What grinds your gears?

Well, you could seek help. I’m sure there are people out there that can help you understand how the world works and answer some of your questions. They could help you find that thing that will make you want to “live for”, it can be anything (and a lot of people have trouble finding what that thing is).
The world is not perfect but it is worth living and exploring and experiencing various things. Maybe you can give it another shot

I am 26 and have been a college student since age 18. I have a BA in English, and am currently nearly finished with a BS in biochemistry. I work in a molecular biology lab at my university.

Are you satisfied with the work? With your social life? With your family? Personal relationship (if there’s any)? What country do you live in?

My family has always been nice and supportive, and I live in the US (Alaska). I really don’t have any social life at all let alone significant other. I’ve never made friends and don’t know if I even want to. I find being around others to just be draining.

The work has been the most engaging, interesting, and tolerable job I’ve had so far. But it doesn’t feel particularly special.

Excuse me a minute; I have to mix up an oxaloacetate solution…

Ok. It sounds like fine but for one thing. I think you gotta get in a relationship. Hugs heal. Ask @The_early_walker .

Or have you tried a psychologist?

Are you referring her to @The_early_walker the LPU psychologist? :scream: :cold_sweat: :open_mouth: :flushed: :grinning:  :joy:

Nope. As to a hugs specialist.

Sounds like the making of a mad scientist :stuck_out_tongue:

It pisses me off that women’s pants/jeans/shorts/whatever come without pockets. So annoying and impractical.

Cuz women supposedly put all of their things in their handbag.

hey Dude @Synathidy, sry, was busy, but I will invite you to sm songs, while listening, you have to listen to the lyrics, and just catch what you get, like a try?

and a big

@ BB @Jabin_Quaken

Yeah, that’s probably where I’m headed. You know, people forget about the “mad scientist” career option. Totally different line of work than “regular scientist.” Just as viable an option, though. Maybe I should look into MAD SCIENCE grad school…

Sorry, but what does “sm songs” mean? If that’s an acronym, I don’t know it. For I am out of touch with the internet and text-messaging lingo of my own generation.

That’s our @The_early_walker . Always some fast typing and shortenings but mostly lots of positive. Get used =)

Relationships… that’s a totally foreign world to me. I’ve been anti-social my whole life. Even in primary school I never had any friends. The little time I spend around others, I just feel annoyed and I always have to put up a fake exterior. I’ve never been able to find anyone I share common interests or opinions with. When I was younger I experimented more with trying to find friends… but always I found I was “happiest” (meaning “least bummed out”) when not around anyone. At a certain point I just gave up and have learned to be solitary.

And as for psychologists, I don’t intend to ever see one because

  1. I really don’t think anyone else can help me resolve my fundamental problems (a psychologist can’t really help me find the purpose of life; I think it’s something I stand a better chance of searching out myself) and

  2. I think they would determine I’m a crazy person. I don’t want to be institutionalized (I’m only half-joking… or maybe like 70% joking).

Sorry I’ve hijacked this thread with my angsty B.S., by the way. I didn’t actually expect anyone to ask “what’s wrong” in reply to my first post.

And now I feel silly.

D’oh… I meant that getting in a relationship or changing everything into other stream would keep you buisy from self-digging or the thoughts about the meaning of the life. Though, if you feel uncomfortable with people around, this would be a torture. So don’t force yourself.
I think, we all underestimate psychologist’s help. They can see from aside and analyse, using what they’ve been taught. Maybe they would point some obvious thing that you’ve never noticed and you change your attitude. It’s kinda sad thoughts, ya know…
I don’t know if it’s to the point but while I read your posts, somehow I remembered Amy Farrah Fowler from BBT.
Stay positive.

@ jabin_quaken

So how does that make you feel? :stuck_out_tongue: (I’m sorry, bad joke  )

Don’t worry, if you stick around you’ll notice it more and it’ll make more sense because it’s not always easy understanding @The_early_walker due to language barriers (don’t take that the wrong way @The_early_walker )
