Alright- here are my experiences with driving in England in general and in London especially: the country roads had a lot of holes… it was - to say it nice- exciting :joy:… though you have the feeling to crawl - but due to the holes you can’t go faster without risking to ruin your tires lol -

Driving in the city is like playing lottery :joy: to get right in and out the roundabouts is for right side drivers really difficult- especially when the roundabout has 4 or 5 courses and the enlish driver seem to have no brakes - it was really really an exciting experience to drive there indeed- not to forget my several heartattacks as pedestrian :joy::joy: and the parking spot costed a fortune :roll_eyes::grimacing:

Roundabouts and merging into motorways is always a pain when your wheel is on the other side. You just have to put your foot down and chance it or have your passenger as a spotter. :joy:

Lmao :joy: :joy: yeah- you definitely need a co-pilot

Every time we’re in Europe, I’m usually on nav duty, the annoying thing is that I usually have to do it from the back seat behind the driver. My mum always sits in the front passenger seat. I rarely get to be up front in those situations. Also it’s usually my mum who starts on nav duty, but she’s not great at it. lol

of course, because like Tom Cochrane or the Rascal Flatts or even Steve Smith sings:

Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
If you’re going my way
I want to drive it all night long

in towns there’s a speedlimit by 30 or 50 km/h, but I’m often 10-20 too fast… :joy: also our highways are often ‘open’ and I drive with 100-200 km/h  just for fun, but not on long ways (it would cost to much gasoline) - When I’m driving ‘mormal’ I would say 50-120 km/h

The thing about driving quickly on motorways is that if you have a crash at anywhere above about 60 MPH, you’re going to end up dead, no matter what car you’re in. You’re going to end up dead anyway, so why not go fast? The reaction time argument doesn’t really make much sense considering some people can’t even react in time at 30 MPH.

If you think you can make a correction at 70+ without flipping the car and killing yourself, you’ve got another thing coming. Ok, so you manage to nail the brakes and come to a stop only just. What about the idiot behind you that has a shittier car and no reflexes? He’ll rear-end you at 70 and you’re still dead.

Maybe if you were a professional race driver in a supercar you’d have more of a chance, but even then…

The real danger on motorways are all the idiots going way too slowly (50 or below) in all 3 lanes (or in any lane besides the slow). People sitting in the middle and fast lanes for no reason (they are for overtaking and nothing else) and idiots who brake as they go down the slip road to merge with a motorway instead of speeding up to match their speed.

Road and weather conditions impact on your stopping distance so reducing your speed would help. Going faster just means you’ll die quicker. People have survived car crashes with bad injuries because of reduced impact from speed. Also, it’s not always about you because you could hurt others because you can’t slow down in time.

I’ve lost all respect for you!

Oh noooo :pensive::disappointed_relieved: but Germany is different - we have here in Germany “standard speed” of 130 km/h in our big 'Autobahnen" so you have to drive 100-130 with your car. If you’re to slow, you are the reason for an accident.

I need to watch some German dramas to see how fast they drive haha. But 200 seems too much probably unless you have empty roads. :hugs:

Like I said, cruising at 120 in Germany is a normal thing and I love it.

This!

And I saw that people of countries with a hard speed limit tend to be really bad in reacting.

I think the important thing is the distancing. No matter how fast, or slow I go, I always keep a propper distance.
And I know of myself that I have really good reflexes to react fast and appropriate when shit hits the fan.

My creepiest moment so far, and I had many, was this:
Once, I drove in winter on plane land road and then had to go down a steep curvy slope, at the bottom it nerly did a U turn and got up again.
As soon l hit the steep, I realised it was all ice and I was too fast for it, couldn’t stop.
So I took the food of the break and slided. Left and right, everywhere cars had hit trees allredy. I honked like a maniac, so hopfully the people stayed of the street and slided like this bob sliders in sport. Even got the curve at the bottom right and speeded upward the other side, till the car finally slowed down. In the back, I had my little baby son.
I just yelled in happyness and adrenaline rush and fear.
If I had hit breaks, like all the others, the car would have started to spin, no chance we would have gotten out of it without a crash.

Never brake on snow or ice, use engine braking and only slightly touch the brakes at the very end. Something people here don’t seem to know. Also, if you can’t get up an icy hill, try reversing up it if you have front wheel drive, the weight transfer and engine should help a bit with grip.

How much battery life do you typically get from your phone?

  • 0 - 12h
  • 13 - 24h
  • 25 - 36h
  • 37 - 48h
  • 49 - 60h
  • Over 60h
  • Over a week

And, yes, I’m being serious with the week option. My dad gets over a week from his S7 because he only uses it for calls.

Sometimes i have 48h because i switch my phone off during the night. It depends how i use the phone during the day.

I should have said in 1 stint.

My ‘over a week’ vote was a mistake. I touched the screen and it went.
But it may be somehow true as far as my Nokia 206 is concerned.
Huawei P10 - I guess 48 hours.

You can change it if you click on ‘show vote.’ I just checked my dad’s phone. His up time on this charge has been 71h and he still has 72% left. :joy:

I’ve been using my phone less these days, so I easily get 2 full days of battery life.

Why not ? I’ve got a TEXET phone as a second one. Over a week of battery life

I don’t know the answer to this and my battery is glitchy because Motorola suck now.
