German’s drive at 90mph? I did not know that.
No, Germans would kill themselves if they were forced to slow down to 90. They all drive at at least 95. They have no speed limits (unless given specifc conditions like when raining or near housing), cruising at 120 and hitting 130 (in a 2L diesel saloon ) was nice.
What are their road traffic incident rates like compared with us?
@anna834 @HakManLP @Linkineli - Do you all drive this fast in Germany?
No idea, but they can actually drive, unlike people in this country. And they have well made roads and motorways. Ask @theearlywalker exactly what she thought of our roads and driving when she came over a couple of years ago, we’re a joke . Good thing my family is Bulgarian, speed limits are mythical to my dad. LMAO
What do you see?
Not really much over 95. I drive a Diesel and he needs a lot more if I go faster.
Obviously not everyone does it, but it’s not like here where everyone does 50 in all 3 lanes. Over there, we only dropped to 80 a few times and most people were passing us.
80? It’s somtimes limited to this on highways, but you always can go at least 5 more then actually allowed, we have goodwill in the ticketing process.
Wait but you do have limits?
We’ve spoken of this haven’t we?
Isn’t there like a no limit on the actual highways?
80MPH, not KMH.
I know you have limits near built-up areas (for reduced nosie) and when the weather is bad or when there’s traffic (I’ve been to Germany about 4 times for multiple days at a time and was in traffic once for 10 mins).
It is no speed limit, if there is no sign.
But there are a lot of parts, like near citys, or higher risk roads, where you get slowed down. Mostly to 75 or 80.
And there is a big on going discussion to limit speed to 80, period.
Construction sites you have to get at 37 or 50.
And we have a lot of this.
Roads are really full here, this is a typical German joke:
“Soon there should be a speed limit to 80 on all highways.”
“Awesome!”
I meant mph
Wow, your speed limits are a joke, I love it . Here our max is 70 on motorways.
We have 62 on country roads and 50 inter city.
The craziest speed limit I saw here was on a back country road that was barely a lane wide, lots of ups, downs and blind corners. Speed limit: 50 MPH. Doing 50 on that road is a death sentence.
Yeahhh! That’s exactly my kind of lanes.
I’m never going more then the 5 miles over speed limit.
But I love going steep, curvy roads as fast as I dare!
It would be a fun road if you knew it, but even then, it wass two way. If you’re coming around a blind corner at 50 and someone else is doing the same coming the other way, you have a 100 mph impact speed and half a second to react on a road that physcially cannot fit 2 cars on it.
.
Here up north, no steep roads and curvy hillsides.
But during corn season, same game.
And roads in farm areas tend to be so small, that at least one car has to leave the lane with two tires, so you can fit.
Yes I do
This to me sounds too fast. I hate 70 on our motorway as it feels too fast. Unless you had a very clear road 95 would make it difficult to stop for emergency?
@HakManLP Don’t do a metal hand for driving fast what speeds do you normally do?
I now see why you shut up
