General Movies & Series Discussion

For me Aliens in the only truly good one. Alien was your typical Ridley Scott snooze fest (like all his films were from that time), A3 was meh, AR was totally unncessary. I liked Prometheus and AC was a complete joke.

The Lobster is weird, monotone and boring. Haven’t had such a bad film experience in a long time. I thought it was worth checking out since a friend of mine liked it, how I was wrong.

I did warn you @rickvanmeijel!! Ok it was almost one year ago but the movie didn’t change… :relieved::joy:

By the way, i watched Marriage Story and i don’t recommend it too! It’s a never-ending movie!

I don’t know what either of the films you guys are talking about are, but all I need do is look at the title to know not to touch them with a 100m metal pole. Lobster? Marriage story? Come on. :joy:

Marriage story was nominated for The Oscars, that’s why i watched it! But it was a mistake. :joy:

That means exactly nothing. When’s the last time a watchable film was nominated for or awarded an Oscar? The Oscars are usually a blacklist of films you shouldn’t touch. :joy:

Oh, I thought it a really good movie.
It shows the down fall of a marriage really well.
It didn’t pick sides.
And also this, that at a certain point, there is no turning back.
You have to fight for your marriage before it gets that deep into shit.
So, yeah, I liked the movie.
The actors did a great job.

But no easy movie and for most people here (all?) of no interest, so I didn’t mention watching it.

Really?

Hahah I had completely forgotten, you were so right about that :joy:

I’d die to see your reaction to the film :joy:

I’m being dead serious, I wasn’t amused at all

Finally watched The Rise of Skywalker, I’m really conflicted about it. On one hand, the whole plot was total BS, most of the film was totally out of character relative to the series (and I felt like they kept trying to pile on the references from past films). On the other hand, it was an enjoyable watch.

I get that. I feel like from a film critic standpoint it wasn’t the best. However, as the finale to the Skywalker storyline I think it did its job very well. I particularly enjoyed the ending, I got made Endgame vibes from that.

The film left so many questions unanswered. Questions it introduced within its span, not ones left from previous films. It introduced a whole pile of new content and did jack to explain any of it.

Well it definitely won’t be the last Star Wars film. There’s plans to make quite a few more down the road to explore other story lines. What questions are you referring to though?

  • How is Plapatine still alive?
  • Is it actually Palpatine or some clone?
  • Why is it that Rey is suddenly his granddaughter? That came out of nowhere.

  • What’s the story behind Sith way-finders?
  • What’s the story behind the dagger?
  • How are there remains of the death star left?

  • Who were all the people in Plapatine’s cave?
  • If they were all Sith, what happened to the rule of 2?

EDIT:

More spoilers

Lmao. Those are some good ones. I’m sure some are answered in the book series. I’m not sure about the rest tho. I think sometimes it’s best to just leave somethings unanswered too. Leaves opportunity for imagination or future storylines.

Was just watching the honest trailer for TROS when I saw the single most perfect analogy I have ever seen for anything down in the comments.

Just watched the series finale of How to get away with murder. I’m kind of conflicted about it because it sparked some significant questions about 6 mins before the end. I also felt like the show dragged on a bit the past couple of seasons. Now I’m really out of stuff to watch and need to find something new. lol
