This is also why I will never understand the people that say “512GB will be more then enough storage for you.” For me it’s an absoloute minimum of 1TB that I’d recommend to anyone buying and personally I’d need 2TB minimum. I’ll be going for twin 2TB drives when I get a new laptop after I finish uni. Ideally I’d go for twin 8TB Sabrent M.2 NVMes, but I don’t have £1.4K to spend on SSDs alone.

Here’s a fun fact. You can pin folders on the task bar for easy access.

Yes you will need lots of space. I thought my 128mb usb stick back in 2008 was more than enough for me…lol

Have you tried using Storage Sense in settings to clear stuff up?

Not a good idea in my case based on how packed it already is. lol

I run an 128GB and that is quickly running out of space as well. Might go up to a 256, but I’ll see as I don’t actually use one that often.

I have, I’ve tried multiple utilities and found CCleaner to be the most effective. I run it regularly.

Yes i use it too.

It’s a tiny ASUS Ee PC 4G right from 2008! I’ve got myself a charger for it and guess what - it’s still alive

image

It even has a current date installed lol

The memory amount is 4GB… LOL
Anyway I’m glad it’s alive and maybe I’ll use it as a media station for the older mediacenter

I’ve even managed to get it running online using Mypal and go to forums - i’m currently typing from it.

4GB for 2008 is a lot. Our family laptop from 08 had 2GB, I upgraded it to 4 the other year or whenever it was.

Not ram , the actual HDD space ) but yeah, it was pretty enough for my father to work

Oh Jesus Christ. :man_facepalming:

Just a note though. Memory =/= Storage.

Memory = RAM
Storage = SSD / HDD / SSHD space

You’re an archaeologist as well now? Is there anything you can’t do? :joy:

Our old shelves can make anyone an archeologist lol. We’ve got a ton of stuff we just forget to throw away. And some really needed but old stuff , like old family photos from 1905-1907 we’ve recently dug up

Guess who’s updated finally? Me. Now the specs of this PC ( the one i’ve assembled myself. it’s gonna stay in the country) are:
16 GB RAM
4 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
aand this is where the updatres end. I f–d up with the cooler - it doesn’t fit! Will change it for something fitting and hope it will work with LESS DAMN NOISE

More about the old lap. I’ve decided to remove some not so useful apps and stuff to get at least SOME free space

I remember this utility. Btw dad’s old Sony Ericsson is still alive. But I don’t think anyone’s gonna use it with this lap ever again

image

I dunno why, but there was some dvd-label making software. Oh and a DVD burner. And two 3G modem utilities. To the trash can!

Holy crap, this guy has BT??!

image

It also has Microsoft office installed - maybe I should keep it for a while … oh, and some adobe stuff as well. No one is ever gonna need flash player and acrobat… this guy is for music )

Anyway , 4GB storage isn’t enough you know. Maybe I should search for an IDE HDD which fits for the laptops as the playing speed from the flash card is… ahem, disappointing. Oh and the thermoplaste! This guy needs it desperately.

After all, my guess is that in total , reviving this old lap and getting it to a complete music station condition shouldn’t cost more than 40 bucks . I hope …

You could probably expand the storage with a low profile USB stick (keep in mind, you’ll probably be limited to USB 2 (or USB 1 if it’s really old and crap) or an SD card. When you say ‘flash card’ I don’t know if you mean the internal storage (which may well be an EMMC) or external.

As a music player though, it’s a little bulky, no? You could just buy a cheap MP3 player for 30 quid or use an old phone.
