Anyone know anything about gaming headsets??
That they’re all pretty much shite and you should get some good headphones and attach a mic to them if you want one?
Oh really?! ill send the info to you on WA later…as wanna get some though…
Gaming headsets are typically overpriced, badly built and have horrid sound quality with bass that’s way too over exaggerated. I can recommend plenty of headphones, as for mics, I know next to nothing about.
This is true for PC gaming, but I’m happy with my PS gaming headset, which costs comparable to my Marshall headphones. It is pretty good in sounding plus the controls… they usually don’t work when you connect any type of headphones via the game pad. But if you’re not a console player I strongly recommend you to listen to @the_termin8r
Why does it matter if you’re on console or not? You’d just be plugging them into your TV.
Nah, didn’t work with my tv
That’s probably because it’s a PS specific one (a very Apple move to make mind you), back when I was still gaming I just had a pair of headphones plugged into the TV and that was it. Oh and I just screwed a Bluetooth phone earpiece on them as a mic.
When specs aren’t disclosed, I walk away.
If you just want dirt cheap headphones, I’d recommend the Sennheiser HD202s. They’re like £20, but the value for money is great. I had my pair for several years before they finally coughed out, very good sound quality (slightly bass boosted) for the price. They were actually my daily drivers and used them for gaming as well. The only down side they have is that they have a really thin 3m cable. They took a small battering while I owned them and the cable finally gave way after 3 or 4 years.
Although, browsing Amazon and Ebay, they don’t seem to be available anymore. I’m guessing they’ve been EOL for a while now. The replacements appear to be the HD206s, they have roughly the same specs, but cost ~£30. Obviously, for this price, tailor your expectations, you’re not going to be getting studio-monitor sound quality.
My son chose this one, exactly for thar reason.
And he is satisfied, the gaming headsets he had before where around 80 Euro and not that good in sound or comfort.
I have bought for myself half a year ago Sennheiser HD 569 for 120 Euro. I chose those for comfort, sound and, important, replaceable cable. It’s always the cable.
And I am totally satisfied.
Umm… what I said isn’t a good thing. If the manufacturer fails to tell me the detials of the headphones, I’m not interested. If they’re not given, there’s something fishy going on.
I swear by my HD598s (they’re £200 headphones, but I got mine on discount for £125), although they are open back and are better driven with an amp. The 598Ss might be a better option for this use case as they’re closed back and designed to be driven by a dinky phone or by a laptop, however, they sound like crap with a proper amp for some reason. Also, we’re on Hd599s now, so they’re probably incrementally (most likely negligibly) better than the 598s.
Ups, misunderstood.
Nope, that’s my gaming tv-set witch is quite… well, the picture is good , other stuff I don’t mind. I had also tried connecting to a smart tv via BT but has faced the sound changing issue - buttons neither on the remote nor on headphones wouldn’t work
Why not plug the jack in directly? That’s what I did. The 3m cable on my 202s was an advantage for that. lol
Key word LOL
I didn’t have any issues with Bluetooth on my PS3 either though.
Started to think about a new laptop.
But everyone (my son and my pc-guy) said, it’s the worst time to buy and I should wait till late summer/ autumn.
It would be ok with me, as long my 8 year Aldi Medion laptop holds up that long. He has his moments.
So yesterday, I had the talk with my pc-guy. He said, that my expectations to get again a laptop that lives that long are not possible anymore.
And he advised me due the current pricing to a used one.
He would look out for a fitting one. He does a lot of setting in the new ones for customers and so get his hands on older ones.
I think, this could be a good way. If my laptop has anything, I run to him anyway.
Yeah, now’s not great. Pandemic aside, most manufacturers are going to be coming out with new models soon (some already have), that means that it’s soon going to be open season on the outgoing models and you might be able to nab something (from the outgoing ones) for a good price when the new stuff comes out.
Depends on what you go for. If you go for some cheap-shit consumer nonsense like an Acer or Asus or something like that, then yeah. I always point people to buisiness grade machines that are deisigned to be used by companies. They cost a lot more, but last a lot longer and are meant to be worked on to an extent.
How long have you had your Aldi one?
I disagree, with used tech, you have to know exactly what kind of life it has had and who has used it. Not to mention, the reliable stuff that’s used isn’t going to be much of an upgrade over your current one because they’re getting dated as well.
If it’s not a Thinkpad or enterpries-level Dell, forget about it.
Since 2012.
Thanks. Ok, hear is what I would like to have.
Long live.
Robust, I have times while working, where I stay in caravans or so. Temperatures go to freezing inside.
17" cause I use it as TV when I’m off working.
Not too troubled to overheating. I use my current one in bed and actually started to put a plate under it just the last years.
Bluetooth, Camera, USB slots, HDMI slot, audio.
I like a DVD drive, but there I can use a external one.
I don’t game at all.
I use mostly social media, YouTube, information.
And of course writing, so no window 7 anymore
And this time word, cause openOffice is not really compatible with my editor and publisher. So it was not only complicate to work together but also lead to one annoying mistake in the printed book.
Money I thought something hopefully under 1000. Can’t say exactly now, I get money back by health insurance for completion of the orthodontic treatment of my kid.
