It’s not difficult, just incremental elimination. Work your way backwards. You know that the word has to be 8 letters and finish with 1 letter. You know that A and I are the only single-letter words in English, so you start from there. Start with A or I and then keep adding letters to make a word with each letter you add. It just takes forever and there are a lot of dead ends.
