Time for my mega post now that I’m home.

Day 1

Mostly travelling, stopped off in Dinant, Belgium and had dinner in Luxembourg before continuing to the hotel in Longwy, France. Luxembourg in the evening is really nice because it’s empty.

Here I took duplicate pics with different brightness levels to bring out different details.

Day 2

Triberg, Schwarzwald, Germany.

The clouds were rolling over the hills, it looked awesome.

Day 3

Day 3 we were on Freiburg, Germany and Colmar, France and at the end of the day my dad and I went up to a lake in Titisee, Germany. I didn’t take that many pics that day because I was too annoyed since pretty much the entire day was spent shopping.

Came across a shop called ‘Snob’ (ignore the apostrophe in the actual name for the sake of humour lol).

The lake was really nice because it was totally empty (just 1 family), it was raining and it was about 13C, my perfect weather. And the roads leading up to there were nice too.

image

Coming back down the roads, we saw the sun setting behind the clouds rolling over the hills. It looked like an inferno on the hill top, it was seriously beautiful. I didn’t manage to get good sky pics since we were moving. These are the best ones I could manage in a gap between the trees and cliffs.

Days 4 and 5

4 and 5 were spent in a theme park (Europa park, Rust, Germany) and the only interesting thing I saw was a woman walking a flock of geese.

image

Day 6

Spent the day traveling back to our halt in France (I can’t remember the exact location off the top of my head). We passed through a place called ‘Bitche’ in France. lol

We went back to up the lake in Titisee, this time with my mum and sister too. It was a lot better the first time, the second time it was sunny, hot and crowded (my idea of hell) and I was ill and sleep deprived (more on that at the end of the post).

Day 7

This was the final trip back home. We stopped off in Dinant and Luxembourg again.

Because I’m really immature.

Back in Luxembourg, again, it was nicer the first time when it was empty.

Contrary to what the pics might suggest I actually really didn’t like the trip, I’ll save you the essay of a rant that I have and I’ll give you the short version (only 3 paragraphs as opposed to 3 pages lol).

The only full day I liked was day 2. Day 1 was ok because it was just travel, 2 I liked, 3 was shit because it was mostly shopping (regardless of the good finish). Days 4 and 5 were worse than shit because I spent them in a theme park. The crowds on Mon were worse than Sun. On day 5 I calcuated that my wait time / ride time ratio was about 10-13 (the actual figure I got was about 7, but the results were corrupted by me riding the same ride over and over with no line).

Day 6 was also pretty miserable because although the main horror of the theme park was over, I was still getting dragged around to shops. Day 7 was also pretty annoying because I got shat on by a bird so hard that my head recoiled (I don’t want to see a single comment about it being good luck), then we got stuck in a French traffic jam for 30-40 mins so we missed our tain by 25 mins so we had to wait 2h for the next one.

On top of all that, I had to share a hotel room with the family, which means I nearly died. 4 people in a room the size of my bedroom with A/C that is switched off and a closed window is like an Amazon rainforest simulator. It was 27C and 73% humidity, and that’s just what the sensors in my thermometer can pick up, it’s horrid in person (I was also on the top bunk where the heat rises). As a result I got at most 2h sleep / night. Worse still is that I came down with some flu / cold around day 3 so I ended up doing a ~42h stint while being ill and tired. I’ve lost track of who holds the record (@framos1792 or @alz89 maybe) and what it actually is, and I know I’m nowhere near it, but given the factors, I think I did ok. lol

The school I attend is know for the iconic limestone that covers all of its buildings and this quarry is where it is all mined and processed.
