If you want to see my reaction to the new song…check my last video on my FB page ;D
A day later and people are still… confused.
I won’t get into the discussion that took place above me since (almost) all of you know my thoughts on the matter.
I just want to say to everyone that if you haven’t read the email they sent out yesterday, you should. Because that’s the Linkin Park I grew up to love and will continue to do.
I have NEVER seen so many dislikes on a LP song. On yt the dislikes have hit 29000!
What email?
There are more than that. For example Numb has 48k dislikes, but the difference is that Numb also got 500 million views A lot of people now just hating new Linkin Park style, though I noticed that they got more subscribers on their channel
True, but a day after its release, 29000 dislikes isn’t a good sign
I think we should start comparing the views and dislikes with other lp songs on youtube after the music video is released. (Hopefully)
I really like the song. I agree more Chester could never hurt though.
I’m not sure why everyone keeps expecting their music to sound the same as it did in Hybrid Theory. Artists need grow and try new things, or you’ll just end up with the same album year after year. I haven’t liked every new thing they have tried, but there’s always enough greatness mixed in to make it worth it. At least that’s how I feel.
It also has WAY more views in one day! It’s a 2.4 mil already which is good! Better than usual
Too true. The only album I didn’t like from Linkin Park was Recharged. I only liked about 5 songs on it
Now I can say…I don’t like really don’t like Heavy.
Join the club.
If they aspire to always be greater than they previously were, then I’ll forever support them for the experiences they gave me for over a decade, regardless of whether or not I like what they’re currently doing. There will be more experimentation, more “damn, I was hoping for something else”, as well as more “this is pretty f**king cool”.
The only thing that doesn’t change with Linkin Park is that they never stop changing. <3
I’m more than happy with them changing, but you never go full pop in the same way that you never go full retard.
Strategically, it was genius: get the brand name fresh into the minds of old and new alike by constantly being heard on the radio due to a pop hit, as well as plenty of coverage from critics and fans alike, debating the new sound. Bad publicity (critics, whiners) is publicity nonetheless, and chances are, someone who didn’t know Linkin Park knows them now.
Everyday they’ll be getting new fans due to Heavy that will look back into the band’s previous material, and find ways to like what they’re hearing. As much as I dislike the pop feel of Heavy, the idea itself was genius.
But you forget that people who listen to the radio these days are kids who know no better and the moment they hear something like OSC they’ll be put off. Take a friend I had in college as an example, he said he listened to LP, I asked which song he likes, he said he had only heard COG so I played him Don’t Stay, he couldn’t take it at all.
That’s because the majority of people around my age (I’m 21) and younger don’t like rock. They like mostly RnB/Hip Hop, Grime (UK hip hop/garage genre for those who’ve never heard of it), mainstream pop, slow/chilled out kind of music, or at least something without distorted guitars! Very very few people I know my age actually like rock.
Off-topic, but I fancy’d up the main post. I hid all the rumor/speculation/studio updates in a spoiler (to save space) and added the album art, tracklist, pre-order info, and Heavy lyric video
I swear it used to show images when you linked a topic
