Linkin Park Music Videos

Do you think that the LP music videos are as good as their music? Which is your favourite one? Is there any you don’t like much? Do you think it is positive to have a band member directing the videos? What to think of Joe’s work as director? [smile]

I’ve just been through all videos again and my first impression is that they got better with time. Althoug ‘In the End’ is a really great video and quite surely helped to form LP’s image on most people’s mind, my all-time-favourite is ‘Leave it out the rest’. I love the story it tells. I love seeing Chester’s face when he’s singing it. I came to appreciate the song more, because of the video. Same with Iredescent, actually. And despite the fact that I don’t like SOTD that much - I simply love the video…[biggrin]

My favourite is definitly Crawling.
I just love the blue crystall ice background and the way the music matches to the video!

My Fav:
In The End
Breaking The Habit
Shadow Of The Day
The Catalyst

The first video that got my heart and made me replayed it, like, 10 times a day is Leave Out All the Rest. Shadow of the Day is also one of my favorites, since the atmosphere is so strong. And I also love Waiting for the End! The effects [heart]

shadow of the day is one of my favourites, but when i was younger i loved crawling, i love chester’s style at that time^^ and oh i really like bleed it out too x)

Leave Out All the Rest has got to be one of my most fav. videos. I think the lyrics fit well with the video though some may disagree.

Well, I have to say the What I’ve Done video is very impressive. It’s powerful and sends a serious message.

I completely agree with you! It’s also my favourite video and the lyrics do fit it perfectly.

At the end, when they guys all stand there, staring at this giant, approaching sun, it seems like that they already knew the direction their music would take: a thousand suns!

Joe did/ is doing a great job. For me as Anime fan, Breaking The Habit is the most awesome video they ever shot. But all of their videos are so great. Especially Numb, One Step Closer, Given Up, Bleed It Out and The Catalyst.

Hahn rules! Love all of their videos… Their next video should be exactly like Shadow Of The Day but then with Mike instead [mrgreen] (Never gonna happen though)

A girl can dream! [wink]

I skip the general part about LP music videos now, and gonna tell you my opinion about the LOATR video [lol]

Why do you think the lyrics do fit to the video ? I mean … what does LP flying around in space have to do with leaving someone, caused by death ? Maybe my description and view of the lyrics is too superficial at this point, but that’s the main part I see in the lyrics.

To tell something about the rest of the videos … well … I try to make it short:
I like almost every of their videos except

  • LOATR, because I miss the refering to the lyrics
  • Burning In The Skies, because you don’t even see the band playing
  • Given Up, because I don’t feel any energy of the lyrics and the song in the video
  • Somewhere I Belong, because it’s kinda boring
  • Faint too, but it’s not that bad as the ones above but too less refering to the lyrics
  • and somehow One Step Closer, because I don’t really get the ninja thing and think they could have done better for such an intense song.

The rest of their videos is great, What I’ve Done for example gets me all the time, they created such an intense and critical video, fitting brilliant to a song that says the exact same stuff.
New Divide is awesome with all the effects - Transformers and non-Transformers version. The song is very powerful and I think this is also shown in the video what’s unfortunately not given in every other video.
Numb was the first video I watched and it made and still makes me cry. I can feel the lyrics even when I mute the video, so how good has a video to be, to concern a person like that.

Just some example’s, I’m too lazy to write my opinion about every other vid, but I’m open for critic [biggrin]

My favorite’s always been From The Inside. That’s a powerful song both musically and lyrically, and Joe really captured that energy and made for a great video.

I usually skip videos because they can’t give back the ideas developped in the lyrics. Just like for books when they are adapted for the cinema. You can be very disappointed by the interpretation by a film director especially when it comes to one of your favourite books. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the same story for songs and videos.
There’s only one exception to this rule. It’s for “What I’ve Done” because the video deals with a topic which is VERY DEAR to the LP guys. It’s more like a political and sociological message which is carried through the images, what we’ve been responsible for for ages. Every time I watch this vid, I tend to forget the lyrics and only see the harshness of the underlying statement.

Pfts of Arthy is one of my all time favorites. The CGI effects are just spectacular and for 2002 it might as well be blueray lol. Crawling and New Divide are my two other favorites :).
