[insert totally nifty topic here]

Sorry, was on my phone. I meant electronic lol. I.e. Digital assignments and anything else of that sort.

Ah, we are deeply connected to that. You see, all our tests work in a digital system which doesn’t allow you to see your mistakes - even if you’re in a training mode. So we write java scripts to enable the “finish ” button before the test ends. It allows you to check if your answer is correct - just choose it, make the button work , press it and if you got 1 out of all you’re right , if 0 - you’re wrong. It’s terribly annoying but we got no other choice - me and the guys have tried to contact administration, they say it’s wrong and horrible and then do nothing …

Thankfully I don’t have online exams (apart from my upcoming ones for obvious reasons), but I have a pile of assignments in Word documents and various simulation files for all kinds of stuff.

Electro jobs!

I had an outdoor wire lying around in the room and driving me totally mad ( I used to step on it. Always.) so I’ve decided to make an outlet

image

This is a LeGrand IP40 outlet - the only one I’ve found. The worst part of the process is opening it up…

the wire then goes under the sofa and behind the world map on the wall and comes into a cable channel (color “oak” so it’s not that noticeable) and then comes to an already traditional wago connection

And yes , the outlet is too far away from this guy - the air conditioner (it sounds like a Boeing engine while running LOL)

image

So I took an indoor extender , disassembled it and made some holes

image

image

I got it fastened on the wall with some screws (the actual outlets are in a different cover inside the body of the extender so they don’t interact with the screws. Still I did some isolations just to be sure). And yeah, I had some more cable channel so the wire is hidden there

image

On the other hand … screw Uniel. I’ve bought myself a 30x30cm led panel to light the place up, got it connected and working and then couldn’t find the screws or anything. They sell the bracing (spell? I took the word from the vocabulary) SEPARATELY. So the panel lies useless until I buy some

Okay here we go again

What we’ve got - an Italian toy in a pretty pretty bad condition
image

First things first- let’s put his arm back in its place. I could’ve used a better looking screw if I had one. Anyway, this works just fine and pretty safely after a few more screwing moves

image

Now the head. I wanted to wire it up but then I’ve just done a loop(didn’t take any pictures of it)

image

“Just let me die peacefully, you damn sadist!”
image

Now the boot. Before I’ve got my hands on this little Pinocchio, his boots had been glued. So let’s glue it back (on this pic his head is still not on a loop so his neck lordosis is a little bit flattened if we speak the medical terms )

image

This. This is what I call terminal stage of cancer. Can’t do anything so let’s just cut these

image

And now let’s put these little damn guts back… sort of

image

And it seems to be just fine. This toy is a decorative one so it will remain at one place

But now the boy wants to live.

That’s original Pinocchio from my childhood- awesome  you’re in at the country atm? Or just weekends? Stay strong bro @NickGr - looks like you really enjoy the process of building stuff :yellow_heart::hugs: and it’s interesting to see it! :+1:t2:

@the_termin8r murder ! :crazy_face::sweat_smile::joy:

We gonna hijak the puppet @anna834 :stuck_out_tongue::joy::sweat_smile:

Jk :stuck_out_tongue:

So more on topic.

I couldn’t just walk by this tool when I saw it in the store

image

I’ve bought the universal screwing for my led panel but… well, the panel’s screws are clearly not long enough to hold it. So I’ve found some plastic stuff (I don’t even know where it originally should’ve been lol) and it fits just great

image

Oh and there are some pretty old books lying around so let’s make them a shell

image

As I live in another room, I need some lights and there’s already a wire coming off the wall…

Are you slowly converting to the engineering side?

I’ve always been on some point. Descartes used to say that the whole world is a machinery… dunno about the world but the human body ? Sure thing !

There’s a new HU song, @AJ_7. Not a fan of the instrumental, lyrics aren’t bad.

More and more on topic as I’m still bored af

One of our outside lights has gone down due to the phase clamp (spell?) which had fell down the other day. I’ve dissembled it and found this - seems that the clamp was out of order for some time so the wires have crossed. Why didn’t the system shot itself down because of a clear short circuit ? I dunno.

image

So I’ve decided to replace the whole wire and the socket. (the light itself is STUPID and assembling/disassembling it is a pain in the arse)
Couldn’t find a ceramic one which would fit in… so I’ve taken the socket i had… a plastic one. There’s some space between the socket and the holding cup so it’s filled with silicone (yup, doesn’t look that cool but it will protect it from water)

image

We also had an issue with a light on the fence. When you turn down the lights it starts glowing but when you turn them back on - it stops. The whole thing was about it’s screwing which has a hole made only for one (!) wire. Guys who were making our lights have got two wires into it and the metal panel has chewed the null wire . It was connecting itself to a fence, obviously making the fence dangerous to touch. Nobody has touched it thankfully. Seems that some of our low-voltage gear is out of service - half of the lights are going down randomly because of a SC (once I’m back in the country I’m gonna disassemble every single one of those lights and replace EVERY twisting with a normal connection. Should work.)

The installation guys actually gave you a good deal, they installed your lights and then added an electric fence for free. That’s top notch service there.

Thanks for letting me know @the_termin8r! Gave it a listen, I didn’t pay attention to the lyrics but I didn’t like the instrumental either. Have you completed your thesis?

@NickGr nice to see you here. I hope all is well with you.

Good joke. Dissertation is on hold, because I’m studying for exams. There’s going to be a mad dash to the end the moment exams finish, because we’ll only have about 2 weeks to submit at that point. I’ve set myself up in a decent position, but I’m expecing stuff to go wrong.

Sending you all good vibes and wishing you the best of luck! Masters is hell :joy::joy:
