How you got "linkinparked"

I met one of my best friends in August 2007, and she had been a fan since 2003, so I heard about them a lot the next years, but never really tried to listen to all of their music. She showed me “Minutes to Midnight” once in April 2008, and I liked the calm songs, and that’s all.

In July 2010, she said to me and two other friends that they were going to Denmark in October, and we started planning a girl trip there to see them. My friend had seen LP 3 times at that time + 2 M&G. And we had heard about her chatting about them a lot in 3 years, so it was about time to see them with her. I know how much she loves them and what their music have done to her, so of course we wanted to go with her to see them.

I was so happy about the whole trip; both the first girl trip with my best friends, and the concert. I wasn’t that much of a fan before the concert, but they did it soooooo good, that I just was stuck with their songs on my mind; the next weeks I couldn’t stop thinking or talking about them, and I wanted to watch all videos of them and so on. Luckily my friend was loving that I had become such a fan, finally someone she could share her joyfulness

And after that concert, I have been to 2 more concerts - and even got a M&G with them
(And my friend has now been to 8 concerts, got 3 M&Gs, AND participated the LPU Summit in London! She is the girl who says “I’m from Norway” in the LPUX trailer… AND Mike and Brad is talking about the puppet SHE gave them in the video from LPU Summit in London.)

And now I’m LinkinParked

In 2008, I borrowed my friend’s MP3 player. As I was listening to different songs, suddenly Faint played. I had never heard this kind of music before and listened to it 4 times straight. I wanted to buy the album, it was hard to find which one because my friend had mispelled Faint and had written it Fiant. Eventually I bought Meteora, and now I have bought nearly all albums, including lpu ones.

I bought Hybrid Theory in 2000. I was 10 years old at the time. I had a little walkman portable CD player and Sony headphones that I used to carry around, and I would listen to Hybrid Theory and other popular CD’s at the time. In 2003, I bought Meteora and fell in love with it. I now knew that Linkin Park would probably become my favorite band. I then joined the LPU in later 2003 and have been a member ever since. I have purchased all of their music and I own tons and tons of merch, etc. I have a bunch of LP tattoos all over my body. I’ve also attended 15 LP shows, 2 DBS shows and 1 FM show. I also saw STP with Chester last month as well. Live 8 was going to be my first LP concert, but I couldn’t attend last minute. That really sucked… I was so sad. Little did I know that LP would continue their ‘‘hiatus’’ until mid 2007. The first chance I got to see LP play live was at the Bamboozle Festival in May 2007.

I think the reason I fell in love with Linkin Park was because of Chester’s awesome voice, I think he is the best singer of all time. Mike is an awesome, amazing, talented writer. I also used to love the lyrics on Hybrid Theory and Meteora, they related to me a lot growing up. I love how Linkin Park blends all types of music together into one. This is why LP is my favorite band.

Well, while I had been familiar with “In the End” for years beforehand since radio stations in my area had played it quite frequently, I heard “What I’ve Done” when the song came out in 2007, and it immediately became my favorite song [geek] Not too long afterward, I ended up really looking into their music (Meteora, MTM, HT, the underground music, stuff from their Xero era), which led to them becoming my favorite band, as they still are today. This may be a very unoriginal thing to say, but listening to them has helped me through tough periods of time in my life, even when I’m not down they’re still awesome to listen to, of course, and I’ve been anticipating their new releases (albums, singles, music videos, etc.) ever since.

‘LINKINPARKED’ I love it, that should be in the dictionary [biggrin]

I got LINKINPARKED when I first heard One Step Closer on the radio back in 2000, was instantly hooked and pretty much been listening to them ever since [lol]

My dad listened to them when they were just getting started so sometimes when I was in the car with him I heard them. It wasn’t until I was in like 8th grade or so that I started putting a band name to the songs and listening to them on my own and then everything just kind of spiraled from there, now 8 years later they are my main squeeze for music and inspiration.

I was playing in the garden with a friend in the summer of 2005, and we listen to music on our cellphones. He showed me the song Nobody’s Listening, and I liked it really well. I used to listen to Crazy Frog and shit like that, I was not really into heavy music at that time(I was 8 years old). But I loved all the songs he showed me. when he had showed me Numb we began searching for their songs on the internett, and we tried to find out all of their songs. Throughout the years I have been listening to LP all the time, never getting tired of their stuff!! I love all their songs except The Radiance and Empty Spaces!

Haha I’ve said this story many times. :stuck_out_tongue:

But it was in 2001 and I was 7, and somehow my dad found out about them and went ahead and bought the HT cassette. He had also bought the frat party documentary as well. From then on I was somehow always hearing LP because of him. I remember being so weirded out with the papercut video as a kid but loving it. My dad soon moved on from them after HT/Meteora but here I am still following the band 12 years later. I’ve grown up with them in my life and it’s been fun.

I grew up on Hybrid Theory due to my parents being fans of LP. When I was a kid, I would dance to One Step Closer with my dad in the living room and scream “shut up.” Though, being so young, I didn’t really know who they were. Just before A Thousand Suns released, I discovered Minutes to Midnight and started listening to songs off of that. I fell in love all over again and by the time A Thousand Suns came out, I became the hardcore fan I am now. I will always be an LP Soldier

I got ‘LinkinParked’ many many years ago. My sister was listening to Hybrid Theory and since then they have just stuck with me. I can’t listen to any other band without thinking LP is better [smile][lol] So that’s my story. Many years and and still a huge huge huge fan I also think they have made me a better person. Also emptied my wallet a few times too with there stuff on eBay [smile][twisted]

tbh it was probably when i was around 8, watched transformers and fell in love with WID

yeah, not a very good story to tell :stuck_out_tongue:

i always liked SIB as a child though, for some reason :3

Well … I first learned about this group back in 2007  The TV then moved their clip What I’ve Done, and I liked this clip wildly, along with the song. But after that I had to forget about them, and remembered only in 2010, when I appeared and internet)) Then I started listening to them and become their fan. So for me it all started with a song What I’ve Done

I got into Linkin Park just before Minutes to Midnight was released, so i was like 15/16 at the time & she had meteora on her CD Player… (yeh this was quite a while ago;)) she loved them and i was like idk if i will like them, i listened to Breaking The Habit and i was in love.

2001 and I was 13… Had a terrible step mom who treated us like garbage… I was in the car with one day and one step closer came on the radio. From the moment I heard “shut up when i’m talking to you” I knew this was the band that I would follow as long as they were together…the emotions were raw, and I knew that’s how I felt about her!!

I found Linkin Park because a friend of me was totally into Lp and after I heard In the end and one step closer I never stopped listening to lp that was 10 years ago time sure moves fast ; )

It was 2003 and I was 13 and in high school. My then-crush, now ex (one of my good friends today) mentioned her favourite band to me and pointed me in the direction of LP. Somewhere I Belong was an anthem for that year, and beyond.

I heard In the End and Crawling when i was around 6 years old and i fell in love with the songs. Aside from most bands, I really feel that LP tries to connect with their fans through their songs and with all their different albums and types of music, that really makes it possible.

I got “linkinparked” when I was 15 from the first time I heard Numb. I joined LPU shortly after that and stuck around for a year. I would have been a member since then, but some crazy stuff happened and I just couldn’t come back. It is amazing how much this place has changed! I’m not sure if there is even anyone around that was a member of LPU3! LP doesn’t ever let me down!

I got “linkinparked” back in 2004. I had recently really got into manga and anime, and I was watching a lot AMVs (Anime Music Videos) and one I watched had Runaway as the song. I was like this song is awesome and kept replaying the video just to listen the song. In the end (haha) I contacted the person who made the video to get the name of the song and artist. I then went out and bought Hybrid Theory. It’s kinda weird but I felt like I ‘clicked’ with Linkin Park and their music. They were the first band where I liked more one song they had made, as well where I wanted to find out more about the actual people who performed the songs I love. I love the guys in Linkin Park, and I love everything they’ve made so far. I’ve also loved watching them grow as a band, they’re still as awesome as when I first listend Runaway! ^0^

Sorry for the essay…

back in 2003, some kids from my class played “breaking the habit” at some little party and then noticed “numb” going on radio too. first bought Meteora, then Hybrid Theory. I’m quite sure Meteora was the first CD i’ve ever owned, i’ve learnt english with LP by translating songs from eng to french haha. i kind of slowed down for almost 5years but now i’m back and it’s one of the best feelings ever.
