General Movies & Series Discussion

I started watching this serie a couple of weeks ago, because Netflix suggests that i would like it. So i started and it’s a very interesting serie. If you like police/mind control/ how criminals think series , you would like this one. It sets in 1977, so old cars/buildings / police work. No technology and that’s good. Check it out… a Netflixs original.

oh and there is a second season

There IS a season 2 which was released around Aug 2019. It is a brilliant show.

Your right. :grimacing: changed it. Thanks :+1:

The Rise Of Skywalker was pretty good, surprisingly! I don’t agree with all the choices they made about the story and characters, since it kinda diverts too much from the setups made in the previous two films. But still it was a cool film. Had great pacing, although sometimes too fast, and great cinematography.

Agreed!
I felt it diverted so much because abrams was correcting the mess that was tlj

I wish it had just been a single director for the three films-it’s a “what if”

I like everything they threw in though

Pretty happy to see Cats bombed in theaters like I was hoping it would  18% on rotten tomatoes right now and apparently they’re redoing it’s visual effects to re-release it in theaters :joy:

My sisters mentioned Cats the other night. They’ve been reading all the reviews that have come out, and how poorly it’s being received. They want to go see it for a good (probably cringe-worthy) laugh.

On an unrelated note, for any fans of Japanese animation, one of my favorite films I discovered this year (actually recommended to me by a longtime LPU friend) is the 2016 film Kimi no Na wa (also known as Your Name). Great story, amazing attention to detail in the animation, it’s well-worth a watch.

Never heard of Cats, though given the title, I can imagine what it might be. On another note, I watched Ralph breaks the internet recently. Good film, really enjoyed it, more so than the first actually. I’ve also never seen so much self-shilling from a company before. :joy:

Ayeeee
I loved that movie! It was a clever way to modernize it I thought
Likable characters, goes on morals and whatnot and funny parts

That cats movie came out a few weeks ago… and OMG the reviews have not been kind to it.

The trailer was dropped a few weeks ago but it was only released on the 20th.

This. Things would’ve turned out much more cohesive if they had a clear vision from the start, instead of letting each director just do his own thing. Then again, I wonder how much our behind the scenes knowledge has influenced the viewing experience. Maybe we would’ve liked the trilogy much better if we had just watched the films and not heard about each director’s choices and different styles.

Finally! :tada:
They show OT only on Sunday and it was sold out fast, the times before.
But today

That I am already all happy and excited with this and the melody, you could probably say, it’s easy to satisfy me.
But I really didn’t like Episode 1, 2 and 3, what a disappointment!
7 I enjoyed, 8 was ok, loved Rogue One, liked Solo and am happy on the Mandalorian right now.
So I was ready to lean back and just get fun.
And it happened!
The movie played in the biggest house we have in town, the Dolby surround system blasted away. Loud enough that I didn’t feel any necessity to restrain myself.
I laughed so hard, cheered, even nearly clapped.
Lando!!! :star_struck:
Ah, what a joyful evening out!

Anyone watched that Dracula mini - series on BBC one or Netflix?

I have not seen it in its entirety but it is more on the pleasing side. 3 episodes of 90min each.

Just watched Frozen 2 of all films. Expected to like it about as much as the first one (which is not at all), ended up liking it a lot lol. There’s a couple of bits that are off and I managed to predict a fair amount of it, but this crushes the first one.
