Waves
“…Rising from the heart of ocean it flows along with its friends to a common destination… like merry children spilling out of their houses and sprinting gaily… Cheering with each other they come to the shore, from where they disappear back into the ocean…”
“The purpose of life is not destination, it is the journey itself”- Shiva Trilogy (By Amish Tripathi)
We are born with nothing and we die with nothing. We often think about achieving a destination or a goal believing it is more important aspect, but that is wrong.
Whatever we do, there is only single destination - Our origin. The power and intensity lies in the purpose of our journey. What do we do in the society while we are alive, counts. Either good or evil for the society, focusing more on career of relations, working all day for being better or just enjoying little moments of life…
What counts is the journey
Destinations are same for all
Find the purpose and meaning in life
The path is led to origin after all…
This is a short story
Small Things
Steven Larsen, a lad of 22, works in an IT company named Forx. Being recently promoted to ‘Dy. Sales Manager’ he is very enthusiastic to work. His entire day goes quite tiring and busy so he sleeps early by 11pm.
Like any other day, today had the same beginning. Getting up at 5 am, go to gym, back home, shower, breakfast and then to work. Before leaving home he checked all essential stuffs – his bag, wrist watch, headphones and of course the cell phone. He reaches bus stop by 8:30 am everyday. The half hour in bus is spent just browsing on internet or social media. Till reaching the office and starting work it is almost 9:15 am.
The end of the day was a little different. Steven wrapped up at work and left for the bus stop at 6 pm. On reaching, he took out his cell phone and got the worst notification, ‘5% battery. Please connect to charger’. Steven forgot his power bank at home. He had no option just to sit idle in half hour journey.
Suddenly someone called him. “Hey Steven, would you like to travel to home together?”
Steven looked back and saw a healthy man of 40s, a plum face which had very small eyes and a big welcoming smile. Steven recognised him as his boss.
“Today there was less work so I ended it up soon. Let’s head home together”
“Sure sir, I’d be happy to. But sir where’s your car today? Didn’t it come to drive you home?” Steven said with a shrug.
“No no nothing like that. I gave holiday to the driver and sent the car back. I wanted to go by bus today. I remember when I was young these buses were very important part of my life. Oh those old days haha!” Boss exclaimed gaily.
“That seems good sir. I’ll be glad to have your company today”
“Oh it’s good to have a fellow along as well!”
They both stood at the bus stop waiting for the bus to arrive. They paused for a while and continued the conversation.
“You see that Steven, these buildings didn’t change much all these years…just a little different colour. Ten years ago same like you I used to travel by buses daily. This was my favourite part of the day, waiting for the bus and gazing at that”
Boss pointed towards the building. Steven was amazing red sky, remnants of the day, it was the sunset. He was surprised to see it.
“You must enjoy these sunsets daily right? After all this is your everyday route in evening.”
“No sir… actually I mean… this is very pretty” Steven stammered a bit
“Why? Don’t you like the sunsets?” Boss questioned thoughtfully
“No sir, I do. Actually at this point of time I am with my phone browsing or checking social media”
“So what about today? I didn’t find you with the device when I came here”
“Sir actually out of battery. I didn’t bring my power bank today”
Boss smiled. He pat on his shoulders and said, “You know what lad, I never owned a power bank as a backup to those ‘battery low’ notifications”
“Uh… why sir? They are useful” Steven spoke thinking the reason for this
“No Steven, they take away a lot from us”
“But sir, how can a simple charging device take anything from us?” Steven asked thoughtfully.
“Did you ever saw the sunset before?”
“Um… honestly, no sir”
“Why? Because you were immersed into these devices” Boss smiled a bit and then continued
“This is the main reason phones have batteries Steven. That is the limit. It is to tell you just don’t stick with them anymore for the day. Enjoy the stuff around. You can talk to the regular travellers of same route or you can stare at the sky. I’ve seen many people spending nights on the phones and not giving time to family. I agree social media is good till an extent, but we shouldn’t be much obsessed with them. Those follows or likes on the post don’t define if you are a good or bad person. It simply doesn’t define anything! Your real life personality is more important than any social media profile. Learn to enjoy small things lad, they give big happiness.”
They both smiled. The bus arrived. With the image of lovely red sky and wise words in his mind Steven took his seat and enjoyed small talk with his boss while he reached home. The starting of the day was same but the ending was unlike, just filled with a bit of aesthetic aura…
This is a poesy (Kind of rap)
You think
You think you are up in this game
Running after all more money and fame
But there’s gonna be a sudden aflame
To put all your luxuries to shame
A sudden aflame’s gonna take up your name Into the ashes, dust in pane
Another day you see sun rays
lightening some other’s tower ablaze woah!
You think everyone’s gonna blow
Just because you got a talent higher? no.
This hard work’s gonna take up all your flow
Your diminished era, behold!
Until then i work harder, pacing above
Bracing in all your shots in flow
unless it’s time for a final show,
Consistent grind beats the talent alone you see!
It’s all inside of me, speaking up voice of the lion beneath
What they all say you won’t agree
That consistency is power, it’s the key
Struggle and sweat is what we breathe
It’s prolly something that you won’t believe
Get up, give your talent some grease
Or it won’t take a moment to give you displease aye!
We fix to our grind, fix to out time and rhyme
We form our play in a secret mime
With force and focus specially designed
Over this we don’t do it for dime
We do this so we sleep satisfied
To truly live before we die
And until end I’ll stay in this disguise
