Oh jeez, I’m blind.
I still don’t agree with his choice. A book on how to build a boat is still pretty useless. The best book you could bring is the biggest and heaviest one in the world. That way you have something to burn or at least start a fire with. I.e. light a page to spread the fire to whatever you’ve made your fire from. Like the paper in disposable BBQs.
