Becasue I refuse to indulge their greed. I’m not thick to pay £30/40/50 (sometimes more) BEFORE delivery and import for some crappy shirt that I can get for 10 quid elsewhere. That’s before you even get to other tat they sell in merch stores. Like that LT globe thing that a person was having issues with the other month in another thread (I know it was a spec-ed and hasn’t been sold for years, but my point stands).
Just going to the LP/LPU stores now, I’m seeing a colour changing mug for bloody $25/~£21 when you can get them on amazon for around £10/~$12. I’m seeing lazy-ass shirt designs like an LT album cover on a shirt for $40/~£34. Then we get to the LPU store, a plain blue T-shirt with a small and basic LPU logo on it for $50/~£42, a flag of unknown dimensions for $30/~£25. And for the LPU items, this is BEFORE you have to pay $10/~£8 for even the most basic membership.
So if I wanted that LPU shirt, I’d need to pay $60/~£51 at the very least for a single shirt, I’d most likely have to pay something for delivery (let’s estimate it at around $10/~£8 to the UK) and probably about £15/~$18 for import (that’s what I usually pay for stuff from the US). So the total would come to around $90/~£76. And even if it didn’t, $60 is still beyond idiotic.
I don’t know what kind of paint thinner someone has to inhale and for how long before any of these prices seem even remotely reasonable. You’d have to be absolutely loaded for these to be trivial to you. It’s ridiculous.
TL;DR: I know when I’m being ripped off. That’s why I’m immune.

OT: I agree with @the_termin8r on the merchandise stuff. My personal opinion is that I should support the artist by buying their artand nothing else. For bands, buy music. But I am not judging if you do it anyway because I have my own splurges.

I was replying to you with exactly this in mind. Once you acquire the taste for it, you would never say “it is evil”. You would straight away enjoy it. As the classic goes: Dark humour is like a kid with cancer. Never gets old.
