I didn’t recognize this at all … but they play it very often, that’s right. But it’s nothing you should blame the band for … I mean, take a look at their setlists. They play 80% singles, 20% other stuff. That’s one reason for playing it so often. The second might be, that Breaking The Habit is an older song and that’s why more fans know (and like it) and it’s also a very intense song so I guess Chester or even the whole band has some kind of bound to it. Same with Papercut, because it’s their first single and the first track of their first album [wink]

Regi dear, the only song I cannot stand is “Shadow of the day” … it’s just too boring … though I like the first minute of the video

I read a lot on this thread, mostly the first page, lol, and I have to say I completely disagree with the choices, not because I don’t think you guys are crazy or anything, just I like the songs.

For example I don’t understand why people are down on Robotboy, I love that song. It feels and sounds like a R&B song, kind of like R Kelley.

I also love Blackout, the beginning it does sound like a childrens song as put by Jats, and thats what I thought when I first heard the song, I was like wtf is this? Okay… I’ll give it a try, 3 mins later, I was impressed. The reason for that was because I was lead into the song believing it was going to be rainbows and sunshine, and then the verses come in and I am like woah, and then the bridge comes in and the childrens part comes in again and I am like, “Haha, wow, I totally forgot about this childish piano, I’ll never judge a book by its cover again!”

People are also down on SOTD, when I first heard this song, I was like woah, it’s a breath of fresh air. Reason I say that, was because it was the only song that was uplifting throughout the whole album. Incase you are wondering, yes, I am for the whole Linkin Park experimenting/changing their sound. As a maturing person, I would also like my music to mature with me.
Personally, I don’t have a song I hate, I do however have songs I wouldn’t go out of my way to search for through my playlist. For example Enjoy The Silence Remix by Mike Shinoda, not because I don’t like the remix, I personally don’t like Depache Mode. That’s just me.

Foreword and empty spaces. Thats about it lol.

My least favorite is Robot Boy, when I first heard it I was like woahhhh, ok… haha.

Nice words, sign [wink]
I know what your point is, but I already mentioned that I do like Blackout, but I don’t like every part of it. I think my problem with such songs is, that I’m too perfectionist to forget about things that really annoy me. If there’s something I don’t like about a song, I always gonna dislike it … or I somedays gonna like it, but I couldn’t forget about and I also would mention it in a feedback.

Just to give an example: I like Given Up very much and there’s nothing bad I could say about that song. But the album version has something really fucked up on it. At second 2:45, right after the bridge when Chester starts to scream ‘I’ve given up’, you can clearly hear that that is the part of Given Up they forgot to record when they were in studio. If you don’t believe me, watch The Making Of Minutes To Midnight. Mike mentioned it there … they hadn’t enough time to re-record it and so they tried to create a scream that fits out of Chester’s others. And even though they also re-recorded it, you can hear this one key that does not fit to the other … check it out. The worst thing about it is … on the CDS and on the CDM it’s fixed.
I hope I’m not mistaken here, but I’m pretty sure about it.

Yup I read the rest of your post, I just would like to put in my two cents. Also my two cents on the Given Up “screw up”, I like it best this way, for the reason after his 17 seconds of screaming, or so, that one off key note he screams of “I’ve given up”, because it shows how hard it can be to do that and then following it back up to the chorus with no more than 2 seconds to catch up. I mean, going on for 17 seconds, that is hard. I can barely hold my breath under water for that long. I mean, that to me, was hardcore when I first heard the song.

I may be VERY wrong, of course, but I guess Mike would enjoy listening to this conversation of you two (Jats and Cesar G)… [lol]

I don`t like Faint …

haha maybe, regi [biggrin]
He should really take a look…

@Cesar G: I understand what you want to say, but somehow I disagree. Maybe it’s because I’m a little bit too perfectionist, but … LP have the possibilities to mix and cut songs that they sound perfect, so I expect that and if they don’t do it, I’m a little bit disappointed.
You may be right with the fact that this even more shows the intention of the song - how hard it is to hold on - but I think this also stands against the intention, because Chester did it, he held on and that’s what the song should be about and what it’s ought to express.
I understand that they ran out of time, but it’s yet kinda sad. In addition to that I also agree to what you’re pointing at with your example … of course it’s hard to hold a 17sec scream, but my opinion about that is: If a band or a singer writes and creates a song, they are supposed to play and sing it that way, that they can also play it live or once more than only for the time they record it in the studio. I totally understand why Chester doesn’t hold that scream at every live show, but they have only done it 3 times … and I would prefer it, if a band would just not release a song if they can’t sing it live, because that’s what the fans are really waiting for. Of course a long scream sounds nice, but Chester should also can do it live and if they gonna release other songs they can’t perform live so that it sounds similar to the studio version, I wouldn’t really want to hear them, because I would be very disappointed.
Example: Drake can’t sing. He just can’t fucking sing, but he does it on so many records and even though he tries to do it live, it sounds awful and in addition to that he uses autotune what makes it sound even worse. If Linkin Park now would release songs they couldn’t play live, it would be the exact same thing like the Drake one.

I hope you got my point, because I’m not that good in write my arguments, I do much better when I use them in a ‘real’ conversation [lol]

Yup, I understand exactly what you are saying. Let’s be honest though, what other band/artist can play their songs live similiar to their studio version better than Linkin Park?

Really Tina? I thought Faint was one of the absolute favorites from everybody … [smile]
What you don’t like about it?

Hmm, looked for an answer a while, but nope. Can’t think of any song now… [lol]

None [wink]
And I hope you didn’t get me wrong … no doubt and I never said they aren’t an awesome live band. They could be a more active band when they play live, but the performance of the songs is always great.

LP songs That I really dont like  sorry mike

  • by myself
    -its going down
    -the catalyst
    -requem
    -radience
    -drag
    -fuse
    -empty space
    -blackout
    -wisdom justice and love,
    -Fallout
    -Jornada Del Muerto
    -high voltage

to tell the truth. I like every LP song. more or less.
but I don’t like the “road to revolution” album, because they didn’t played very well in a few songs.
AND since the minutes to midnight tour I don’t like the guitar sound. it sounds so muddy, mostly the old songs from meteora and hybrid theory.

Songs I hated when I first listened to them:

-Waiting For The End
-Blackout
-In Between
-Behind Your Lies (Qwerty)

I didn’t like these songs for a while, but now they’re my favorites.

Songs I just DON’T LIKE:

All the Jay-Z Collision Course songs, except for Jigga What / Faint.

Some songs are passive (no meaning to me at all) to me even nowadays like :

-Robot Boy (I like it, but it dosen’t mean anything…)
-What I’ve Done (Became just too popular, can’t have any real meaning to me)

i don’t like nobody’s listening…

Robot Boy may be in that category…
