I study ‘political science’ for my ‘Master of Arts’ and had many course and have many courses  For an assignment we need to write down 18-20 pages and have to use many literature. The best literature is often a book and you need many books. Our university is still closed, but the library is open also the administration. But the opening hours and also the opening hours of the library are limited. The library may also only be used to pick up or drop off books. Furthermore, only very few are allowed to stay briefly in the open area under hygiene rules.

Aren’t you able to access them online? Either via your uni’s library or other websites like google books or researchgate etc?

Ouch, good luck with that.

Is that for your dissertation?

This, if your books are available as digital copies, the library should have a portal or something for you to access them.

@HakManLP And even if they’re not available in your library, you can also access almost all of them (on third party websites) via signing in with your uni account and downloading them.

thank you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: No,it’s still a long way to that. Yes, some books are available as digital copies, but you have to be in the library + library w-lan to have full access  Also often books are better literature.

Really? You haven’t got much time left, the year is almost over. Mine is due in Sep with the interim report due in a couple of weeks. When do they release yours?

I agree. I much preferred using hard copy books at uni because I could mark pages with post it notes and just found it so much easier to have in front of me. I used to take out lots of books and only used online versions if I couldn’t get the hard copy. You can also buy old edition of books online as there’s often very little that’s changed especially if you want to keep a book for future reference.

No, no
The standard period of study for my Master of Arts in Political Science is four semesters. That’s two years. In the standard period of study, however, it is hardly possible to complete it, as you need 16 seminars and 24 assignments + a master’s thesis. I still have enough time.

Part 2:
weather turned into something sunny and a little bit warm. So it was a nice run/walk

I said this before, but I might be the only person on the planet who doesn’t study from books. I made it through my 3 year bachelors without opening a single book and I haven’t touched a single book so far for my masters :joy:. I just can’t absorb info from books, give me articles or websites to read, even better would be in video form or ideally would be something physical to do (though most times that’s not possible for obvious reasons).

You have it good, I have to cram 10 modules, one of which is my masters dissertation and another two are large group projects, about 6-8 assignments across those remaining 7 modules, weekly lects for all the modules (those are finished now though) and about 7 exams in 1 year. That’s on top of other stuff I do at uni. :joy:

Although, if I had to do my MSc over 2 years, I’d never take the course. I didn’t even want to do an MSc, I’m only doing it to set myself up for the future. Chartership in engineering (which is where the big money is) requires at least some sort of masters (among other requirements).

I can’t say I have either. My Bachelors was all about the books, I even spent hours at the library researching and studying, especially when it came to my thesis. I do believe though that it had to do with the fact that Greek education is horrible and almost nothing is digitalised so we were forced to do that.
For my Masters now, I had to get a couple of books (which I’m glad I bought cause they’re very interesting and I used a lot for assignments etc) but I can’t say I’ve sat down to read any at the library or whatever. 98% of my work is done from online articles, journals, other papers and online books. I just find it so much easier, you can simply copy and paste them too which makes it faster to paraphrase and add/remove bits, saves time.

I wished I did mine part time too, I think it was too much doing it in a year (probably because I ended up working full time even though that wasn’t the initial plan) but overall we had 8 modules, 16 assignments, various group projects and smaller assignments for the weekly lectures (not to mention all the bloody presentations), plus the thesis that I need to do now that’s due early August.
I just hope all this meant something and I didn’t just spent so much money for nothing.

Part1:

I went today to North Hessen’s own Kassel (my birthplace). After so many weeks I visited so many places, which I really missed. Also I took many photos of a few ‘tourist attraction’ (but there are so many more) - Hopefully you’ll like it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
