From tonight’s ride around the village.
There’s more construction going on at the school this week. Now they’re seemingly digging up most of the sidewalk, and some of the potholes around the parking lot are also going to be fixed.
The new playground’s coming along, too.
This is just one of many, many cast iron horse head hitching posts that can be found around here.
There’s a story behind the purple ribbon, too.
About six and a half years ago, there were two alumni from here that were in a serious relationship, who were attending different schools outside the area. He (22) went to visit her (18) at her dorm one night, and arguments led to yelling which eventually led to him beating her to her death.
Once he realized what he had done, though, he drove off, and turned himself in. He’s been sentenced to 25 to life.
Not long after the trial, these purple ribbons were tied to every tree, or cast iron horse in the village, which signifies that you are an active person in a community that cares for each other.
It’s been six years since the trial, and some of the ribbons have disappeared, but there’s a few that remain.
