Wbr*warner bros./nonesuch $4.22

Noticed this charge on my credit card and was wondering WTF it came from …

Further investigation revealed it came from LP !

LIVING THINGS REMIXED monthly subscription
Linkin Park
MISC
Price $4.00
ADVANCED ORDER

This ^ was not there when I ordered the LPU/pre order album … and was not told I’d be charged for something I didn’t even want.

The remixed isn’t free.

How can an album cost $20, it’s a combined cost of the album and remixed. No one said the remix was free anyway.

Actually It said the album was $11.99 and the remixes were INCLUDED. Meaning to be FREE.

You know? I had the same confusion! This was my first time making an advanced album purchase. Initially I thought that WB was just breaking up the payments (Didn’t understand why, but I knew at least who it was and it was for the CD) and I didn’t want to get all paranoid for nothing.

Unfortunately, Zoelinkingal is right. I had to double check my confirmation email and it does say that it is a monthly subscription and that it is $5.00. (at least, mine says 5)

But see, this is what bothers me…

Taken from the website itself:

All Purchases Include:
Instant mp3 download of “BURN IT DOWN”
Digital download of the full album, delivered on 6.26.12.
Early access to tickets for the just-announced Honda Civic Tour in North America.
Subscription to LIVING THINGS REMIXED. You will receive one new remix per month for the next 8 months.

When I read “all purchases include” I assume just that; that this subscription is to be included in my final purchase price, not something WB will continue bill me for over the next 8 months, which is also why I didn’t think to double check that particular item when it came time to confirm my billing information.

In my opinion I think they should’ve worded that differently, or at least let it be known that while it is part of the bundle, it would be treated as a separately charged item. The way it’s stated now makes it seem to be a perk for buying directly through them (WB)

Worst thing is? I still want the remixes, so I’m gonna have to eat the estimated $40 for 8 songs. Not to say LP’s music isn’t worth it, but 5 bucks a track is still a bit pricey for a single track.

It would’ve been nice to know up front about this little bit of information before I made the commitment to buy. I would’ve liked to have known that I had a choice on whether or not I wanted those remixes.

Right now, I just feel like I’ve been lied to.

I thought the same, didn’t realize that there was a $5.00 charge per month for the remix songs. WTF?! There goes WB screwing the LP fans over again

which version was that as this is what mine says:

Had this charge on my credit card, too. Didn’t know what it was at the time so I disputed it. Looked over my Living Things receipt to find it was a subscription charge for something I believed to be free with the album.

I’ll continue to dispute the charges until I can find a way to cancel them from WB directly. The wording led me to believe they were free. As much as I love LP, there’s no way I’m paying $4 for one song a month.

I it $5 a month or $5 gets you the subscription to receive them every month?
And why do we have different receipts for the same order

I guess a starting point would be with WB…I’ll do sme digging around and see what I can get…Will keep u guys posted. I understood it to be free as well.

Wow, I cant believe this. I did not preorder from WB but the remixes included in the price was very hard to ignore. However after reading this im glad I did not buy it from WB. This is just wrong, ethically to lure people into a package with wording that suggests free.

They will argue that “subscription” does not mean free, but there is no mention of the cost anywhere unless you read the small print. I still think its ethically wrong.

Warner Bros just sucks!
Actually I wanted to pre order LT via WMG. The price was 19 € what should be the very upper limit for that album here in Germany. But that wasn’t enough money for WMG. They wanted to make more money with us fans and they charge about 5 € for unsecured shipping, while the real shipping fees are just 1.50 €!

Enough is enough! I changed to Amazon, pre ordered LT there, got the album in time and just paid 13 € totally instead of 24€!

WMG is just greedy and I would support, if Linkin Park found their own label. How cool would that be?

that is wierd, the cost of CD they charged me was more, but no charge on the Remix, and then extra charge on the Burn it down mp3, that is not right!!

Have you guys actually been charged those 5$ more than once? Because mine shows up as “processing” on my statements every few weeks, but it does not actually charge it. It just does that because it’s a subscription, but as far as I know we will only be charged 5$ for all 8 remixes. Not 5$ every month.

The “all purchases include” means that whether you buy the CD version or MP3 download version, you will still get the remix, early tickets and whatnot. Where does it say it’s free? Please stop blaming WB when your English failed you while you’re all hyped and excited. And use your brain, a CD doesn’t cost USD$20.

The only thing that WB is at fault is the stupid site they chose to host the pre-order because the MP3 of Burn It Down is also there so the “charge” may appear when you purchase the CD version. THAT SITE IS GLITCHY AS HELL.

Next, if it says $4 or anything less than USD$5 on your bank, it’s because of conversion rates at that point in time.

All in all, if your purchase, excluding shipping, of the CD + Remix + MP3 does NOT go over USD$20, it means that the MP3 of Burn It Down is free regardless of what charge you have, the CD is USD$14.99 and then there’s the remix.

The remix is NOT a monthly charge, omfg, how can it be? It’s a LEDGER charge which will be ACTUALLY charged AFTER you received ALL the remixes. Learn how your debit or credit card works please.

Omfg seriously, brains…

Mars, thanks you very much for bringing up that point. I know the charge has shown up on my account more than once and earlier this month, it did fully process as a payment rendered to WB. I’ll be keeping an eye on that to see if it happens again next month.

And Zoelinkingal, there is really no need to talk down to anyone here. Dustinandrew is bringing up a valid concern, and he’s not alone in his confusion. The site says that the remixes are included with the purchase of the CD and we are led to believe just that.

You’re right, they didn’t specifically say the remixes were free, but they didn’t say that about any of the items included with the purchase of the CD either. So, by your logic, it would be perfectly acceptable for us to be charged a separate fee for every item mentioned in this “all purchases include” listing simply because they didn’t directly state anywhere that it was free.

Currently, the source of confusion is coming from the subscription itself and whether the 5 dollars (or estimated variant) pays for the entirety of said subscription or if we are going to be charged monthly until all the remixed songs have been released. I think it’s a valid area of concern and something that obviously needs clarification on, or else dustinandrew wouldn’t have felt the need to create the post in the first place.

If the nature of this post and its responses have caused you this much upset, please remove yourself from the conversation.

No. The first post of this thread states about being charged for a remix he didn’t want and NOT whether the charge was monthly or just one time, that came up only AFTER the bla blas.

Wow, so I cannot express my very negative view now? If you only want to see nice sweet talking beat around the bush try to make everyone feel comfortable post than you are in the wrong place. Who are you to ask me to “remove myself from the conversation”? Do you own this message board?

If you don’t like two sides of the story than all I have to say is: Deal with it. People like me are all around life so just deal with it.

Don’t like, don’t read, no one’s forcing you.

Last but not least, by Jove and for the love of English, INCLUDED = You cannot get out of it/You cannot NOT buy it/You MUST buy it if you’re purchasing the album.

Macdonald says the set meal is $5.59 and it includes fries, burger and a drink. They MUST be free, too. The $5.59 is just for the tray, your seat, their time and service charge.

“Who are you to ask me to “remove myself from the conversation”? Do you own this message board?”

Do you?

That’s the thing, I don’t have a problem with this message board, the posts, or the express views of its posters, positive or negative. What I do have an issue with, is people insulting and trivializing their opinions that they are entitled to have. And that’s what you seem to be doing.

For the sake of argument, lets use the example you’ve presented:
A McDonald’s meal is $5.59 and it includes a burger, fries and a drink. You go up, make your order, and prepare to spend $5.59 on your meal.

To your surprise however, the cashier rings up you up at $7.59, saying the fries, that are included in the $5.59 purchase, cost an additional 2 bucks.

When I read that the purchase of a $14.99 CD includes an instant download of a single, a digital download of the album and a subscription to 8 remixed songs, I am making that purchase under the assumption that I am receiving these items for $14.99 (excluding shipping of course) if the subscription itself costs extra it should’ve been stated stated as such.

The posts thus far are expressing a justified problem that we would like to see resolved, and if you cannot provide anything constructive or useful towards the conversation you do not need to participate in it.

Oh Jeez you guys chill…

My order receipt says

And on world wide pre-order page, WB is shouting in caps that “ALL PURCHASES INCLUDE” a subscription to LIVING THINGS REMIXED. You will receive one new remix per month for the next 8 months.

That’s as simple as it can get. It points to the fact that either you opt for $19.99 CD or $15.99 MP3, you WILL get remixes. It’s part of the deal. So no extra charges for the remixes.

Even if it say $5 for remixes on your receipt, you won’t be charged a penny more than the provided total amount by the company in your email receipt. I am quite aware of this matter as several other users have also reported the difference of amount in receipt. But the final amount remains the same if we exclude S&H.

BTW it’s quite understandable that these confusions can happen for first time online pre-order purchases. You only have to see this purchase as a “bundle”. It’s not just a CD. It’s lot more.
