Hello all!

Thought i’d put in a head-pounding experience buster for you all :slight_smile:

I went to the Sept 4th show at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C. with a good friend of mine.

One thing I want to recommend to EVERYONE is check with the box office at the venue you go to as to where early entry gate is. My ticket read Gate 7, but the lady at the box office said go to Gate 10. I waited and waited and waited and there were only about a dozen or so of us by the time the doors opened (1 hour and 15 min before the event). We got escorted into the arena and it was EMPTY. Us dozen LPU’ers got to walk (not run) to the FRONT of the stage! Was still going to be a while as we needed to wait for everyone else to come in, Mutemath, Incubus, then LP.

The wait was worth it.

Mutemath have great showmanship. Their drummer started the show by taping duct tape around his headphones over his head. The guys were all over the place, really entertaining to watch and the singer has a great voice.

Incubus was ok…It went on a bit long and I just couldn’t wait for LP to start.

So Linkin park gets on stage. Tinfoil starts followed by Faint with the extended outro, right into Given up, extended outro, and man my voice was already gone! Had to throw a couple elbows to stop the hooligans from starting a mosh pit, but after that all was good!

The Victimized/QWERTY Mashup, oh damn, my brains were scattered from having my mind blown from that head-pounding-fest.

Now I had an experience I’d like to share with everyone

There’s nothing like being in the front row of a concert, it was a first for me, and really lucky Linkin Park was the band I got to see. But being 1 in about 25,000 people to have Chester scream GOOOO, GOOOO, GOOOO, GOOOO at the end of the song while eye locked was absolutely incredible. He didn’t take his gaze away for a second and our eyes were locked for most of the ending screams. It sent a shiver down my spine and I could feel the power and emotion coming from Chester. I felt this was unique as Lost in the Echo is one of my new favourite songs, and to get that experience…The only one in the crowd, to feel that power; it’s an incredible feeling. I don’t think I could have left that gaze even if I wanted to, it was freakin awesome!

It’s funny, because the night before, i had a dream of the concert, and for those final goes, Chester came down to the front cage, grabbed the shirt of a guy next to me and screamed GO GO GO GO GO right in the guys face. This was close enough to my experience, friggin awesome!

The show was great. We met a family of 4 who also managed to get front row next to us and we held the line best we could when some hooligans came in trying to get our spots. Kudos to the parents who brought their two daughters to the show. You guys rock.

And YOU’RE WELCOME to those 3 individuals who had to anchor to my shoulders to stay near the front and not sucked back. It was a pleasure sharing the experience! I’d hope someone would do the same for me.

Not sure if the band reads these posts, but thanks a lot to Mike, Rob, Brad, and Phoenix. I’d have to give an extra thank you to Chester for the Lost in the Echo experience, it was a moment of kick ass I’ll never forget. Anytime you guys are on the west coast, I’ll be at a show from now on!

That is all, everyone else who still has a show coming up, enjoy it, get as close to the front as you can, it’ll be worth the wait!

Wow, what a story. Enjoyed reading it. Glad you had fun, the concert was truly amazing… It was the first concert I’ve ever been to, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I was just behind the second barrier but I could see the stage fairly well. As soon as Faint started playing, everyone around me starting jumping and was lost in the energy.

After experiencing the LP show, I have a new understanding and love for live shows. The energy and overall positivity is unreal. Everyone is there for the same reason: to rock out to LP. i also loved how much heavier the songs sounded live, especially Lost in the Echo and In My Remains. It’s crazy how different it is; watching a live video compared to actually being there.

I just really hope that LP comes back soon. I don’t think I could wait another 7 years.

That’s awesome man, I was there pretty early too but i had to wait for a friend since another friend of mine couldn’t come and dropped out last minute. Oh well, I had a blast.

I would like to give a shutout to ^^^ this guy standing beside me during the signings, the girl behind me who brought a Road to Revolution CD to sign, the graphic designer from Calgary that I met while we waited in line to get our M&G pass, and Simon who sat behind me and brought a flag to get signed :o.

Here’s to another show hopefully, in the very VERY near future :stuck_out_tongue:

Ohh I know exactly what you’re talking about!! I had a moment with Chester on Saturday in Calgary very similar…we just stared at each other, I sang back every word he was singing and then he lowered the mic, smiled and pointed at me…I pretty much fell in love with him right there…lol

Pretty sweet man, ive never managed to see LP front row but I can imagine its the best experience ever like you explained :stuck_out_tongue: I got to see Ed Sheeran and Above & Beyond front row and both were the best gigs I have ever attended, and ive seen some big big acts before that dont even come close.

Glad you had such an awesome experience! I love front row of the pit! I wish I could’ve been there for Calgary but being 6 months pregnant nixed that. No squishing the baby! lol

I’ve been front of the pit for two concerts (out of 5 now) and would choose that hands down over seats. Camp out all day to get it, it’s so worth it. So much more of an experience being there. :slight_smile:

Glad you found the right gate, there was a bunch of people, including myself who went to Gate 7 and did not get in early. We walked around the arena before hand but did not see any LPU Flags so we went back to Gate 7. We had seats, row 1 and only just past the gated front section of the floor. This was not only my first Linkin Park concert but my first concert period and I could not be happier that I waited for them to come close to me. I can not wait till they come back again!

That’s really awesome! I’ve never been really big on being right at the very front. I’m a bit of a small framed dude so I get a bit too squished and can’t breath haha. But I went to both the Calgary and Edmonton shows and got myself real close to the front, just back a bit in the pit. That’s definitely where I like to be. Great view and I can get in and out of the mosh as I please :smiley:

That’s too bad Incubus wasn’t so great for you though. Brandon may still have been out of sorts from getting Bronchitis. I’ve been a fan of them for a long time too so I really hope they reschedule they’re Alberta dates so I’ll get a chance to see them.

Their showmanship and sound quality just didn’t compare to the intensity and powerful energy that LP put on. It’s not that he sounded bad, but it was just kind of boring. People were bopping their heads to the music but definitely no headsmashing, bone chilling, pit jumping, voice losing, eargasming that happened when LP came on.

I definitely wouldn’t want to be anywhere else than the front when I go again, was pretty easy holding my own. Amazing what a couple donkey kicks and elbows will do to those who think a community butt rape is a fun idea at the concert haha.

Yeah, I believe that they wouldn’t have the same intensity. LP fricken tore the place down! Pretty much non-stop energy. I will keep the donkey kicking in mind for the next time I try the front around people who might try “community butt rape” lol. But I very much enjoy the pit. Giving and receiving a good beating to some absolutely amazing and intense music can be very therapeutic :smiley:

Oh man that sounds like an awesome time, and being in the front definitely has it’s advantages. lol

I was one person away from being right against the barrier and the girl in front of me got a drumstick from the MuteMath drummer, and then the girl to her left got a drumstick from ROB! I was SO CLOSE to getting one. GAH. Nevertheless, I had an amazing time at my own show haha.
