Time to reveal that I also write lyrics in my spare time
This piece is called The Next Generation
What kind of world are we living in?
There is nowhere safe for our children
All the knife crime that is killing 'em
The families hurt, no way of healing them
These gangs they are killing just for a phone
Or for a bike, do they care? Well, no
Ask them what drives them to it though
‘I saw it on grand theft auto’
Maybe they’ll say it was just for thrills
Or the way to get what they want is to steal
And to get it they have to kill
Sometimes I wished to myself that none of this can be real
This world that we all live in
Wasn’t like it was before
Memories of old seem so distant
This new age we can’t ignore
Unless that I’m mistaken
We have to make this place safe again
It is up to us
To change it now
For the next generation
Man, it makes me really mad
That the world we live in is really bad
My children have to grow-up in it, it is sad
What happened to the world that I had
The news plays on displaying death
At this rate there’ll be nothing left
Like when the queen is gone in a game of chess
If it carries on we’ll all be f-ed
How much longer can this carry on?
Will the violence ever be gone?
Don’t these people know that it is wrong?
This is not where we should belong
This world that we all live in
Wasn’t like it was before
Memories of old seem so distant
This new age we can’t ignore
Unless that I’m mistaken
We have to make this place safe again
It is up to us
To change it now
For the next generation
What is the point if we’re gonna lose?
It’s not much of a choice if we cannot choose
We all fear the worse and we know it too
Nothing will change what those people do

This world that we all live in

Memories of old seem so distant
This new age we can’t ignore
Unless that I’m mistaken
We have to make this place safe again
It is up to us
To change it now
For the next generation
