We’ve already known for a while that Linkin Park’s 6th studio album is going to be much heavier - Chester described it as “like Death Metal” when he came back from tour with STP, and Mike posted a photo of the chords and BPMs of the songs they were considering for the album - most songs were in low chords (think D-minor) and many of the song were around 140 - 180 BPM. The last album that Linkin Park made that was similar to this was Meteora.
Perhaps “The Hunting Party” is just a name for an event, and not the actual album name? Or maybe they’ll release a specific song on that day, before or after the album release? I doubt they’d release the album the day of a festival, but… I mean, it’s Linkin Park, they do lots of crazy stuff so it’s hard to be certain what they’re going to do.
Either way, I’m extremely excited. Not only because Linkin Park is “returning to its roots” (I do love all of their stuff, regardless of when it was released), but because of the amount of hype and mystery. Linkin Park and Mike especially have done very well in hyping the album up and releasing little tidbits of information (like the photo of BPMs and chords that I mentioned earlier) that have given the more hardcore (in terms of dedication, not music style) a lot to expect, and I really hope the album lives up to our hopes. That being said, it is Linkin Park, and I don’t think they could release a bad piece of music if they tried.
