In October, Robert from STP confirmed the India show, saying Mumbai would be the city they play, but the confirmation today shows that it will be in Greater Noida, about 50 kilometers east of Delhi. We typically don’t post Stone Temple Pilots news on the homepage since we save it for our STP section in the forum, but this is a pretty big announcement for LP fans in India!
Linkin Park India Unlimited, a fansite for the band in India, has been trying to get the band to their country for years and appears to be close. A show was reportedly in talks to happen for the Asia 2011 tour but the plans fell through. However, new rumors suggest the band to be heading back to Asia possibly around the end of the year or early next year, so perhaps LP will play their first show in India then if an agreement can be reached.
The band is well aware of the India campaign, as referenced by Adam’s latest Instagram post as well as comments Mike has made over the years to the fans there. With such heavyweights as Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Backstreet Boys playing in India, it is likely that the band will finally visit the country in the near future. Linkin Park, on its last world tour for LIVING THINGS, visited a few countries for the first time, including Ukraine, Romania and South Africa and returned to a few others for the first time in a long time like Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines and Malaysia. India is one of the largest countries population-wise that the band has yet to visit on tour.
We expect this to be one of the best shows of the upcoming International STP Tour, which kicks off on February 13th in Dubai.
