Seriously Doubting Using Ticket Pre-Order System In The Future

Before I complain let me just state for the record that I’ve been a staunch supporter of the LPU and have defended it over the years, even during LPUX when TopSpin made using the site a complete and total headache.

However; I’m a little bit ticked off about the ticket pre-order system. Almost two full months ago I placed a ticket order for over 300 dollars total for 3 tickets. Two for me and my dad and one for my friend flying in from Saint Louis to see the show. Despite being a pre-order, I have now discovered that people who have ordered tickets outside of the LPU, AFTER the presales have already started receiving their tickets in the mail. They haven’t even signed up for the LPU, and yet they’re getting their tickets before I do. Heck, I just saw someone going to the Camden show, who wasn’t through the LPU post their tickets on Facebook. Where’s mine you ask? Still not shipped.

Looking at the expected ship date, it’s 8/3/12. Thirteen days before the show. I’ve never ever dealt with a ticket preordering system where it sends the tickets that late and that close to the show. LiveNation and Ticketmaster have always had my tickets available a month or two prior, not 2 weeks. What if something happens in post. Do I get willcall if my tickets never arrive? Or am I out of luck and 333 dollars?

This isn’t just a case of me having a problem. My friend is flying in from Saint Louis and I bought his ticket. If these tickets don’t arrive, he doesn’t get in the show. I just find it ridiculous that fanclub members, who get the privelidge of buying tickets first, receive theirs last in the mail. It makes no sense.

I love the LPU, but I think next time I’m ordering my tickets through Live Nation/general sale. I’ll get them faster.

I received mine and I ordered through the LPU pre-sale. My show is Carson, and New York but I don’t have my New York tickets yet even though it’s before Carson. Shoot LPU an e-mail about your concerns, they’ve always been really supportive and helpful. I once didn’t get my tickets, and they worked with me to sort it out.

By the way, it’s pretty awesome to be responding to a post by YOU. :open_mouth: Good luck, and I hope your friend has a blast with you and your father!

Adam should get a kick out of this.

I called ground ctrl about this same issue and Natasha, I think it was a glitch with the chula vista show!! All of you guys got your tickets and the show is in September! My show is in August and won’t ship Til 10 days before the show. It’s messed up and doesn’t make sense!!

I ordered my tickets through an outside site same day as presale and had them ship to me less than 3 weeks later. lol

Bought mine from livenation and my show is in September, so I got an email that said my tickets were printed and shipped already.

Im still waiting for mine as well, ordered 2 sets for the tacoma concert.

I’m in the same boat. Joined the LPU and bought 3 GA tickets for the Vancouver show, yet they won’t ship until a week or two before the actual venue.

I mean, yeah it’s a little weird but as long as I get my tickets and actually get to see LP, I’ll be happy. I’ve never actually been to an LP concert before. Scratch that, I’m 21 years old (22 in 3 days) and I’ve never been to a huge concert before.

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess I can breathe easier now knowing some people said that they’re getting them earlier despite them not saying “shipped”. I just don’t want my friend from out of state not to have tickets. Thanks everyone :).

I wouldn’t worry too much about whether or not you’ll ultimately have tickets in your hands:

  • First of all, the last thing ground ctrl needs is hundreds of fans having ticket issues. It’s in their best interests that you get your tickets in time, too. They hosts pre-sales for loads of bands; if their approach didn’t work, I’m sure they wouldn’t use it.

  • Secondly (and more importantly), the bar codes on tickets make it possible for ticket issuers to cancel tickets after they are distributed. As such, if the tickets don’t reach you in time, it should be possible for ground ctrl to cancel the tickets and reissue will call tickets for you with new bar codes.

I certainly understand wanting to have your tickets in your hands well in advance, but I really don’t think anybody needs to worry that they won’t ultimately be able to get into their shows.

Just because you pre-ordered your tickets doesn’t mean you will get them shipped to you before anyone, It just means you were able to buy them before anyone. As long as you get them I see no reason to be upset.

This. As long as they arrive within a few days of the show I don’t see the problem.

Amen!

For the record, I’m not trying to be entitled and say that I expect to get my tickets way before anyone else. I took objection to the idea of them being sent practically 13 days before the show, which is cutting it a little close to the venue date. When I practically hold the responsibility of someone from out of state to get into the venue, I have plenty of reason to be concerned over the chance of something happening with the tickets.

imsiobhan’s response was the most helpful in this thread. The notice about willcall alleviates concerns. This thread can be closed now.
