Revive the Underground

Hey fellow LPUers,

the Underground is really quiet at the minute (sadly!!), so my question is:
has anyone get a genius idea to get it more active again? Even if it’s just the same people being more active it would help a lot!

Thoughts/opinions/feedback?

Thanks guys

Well people go to LPAssociation and LPlive a lot, because they have stuff like the archives of setlists, and picture archives, leaked music, etc. Some of it isn’t something we’ll ever see posted on the official LPU site.

Plus I wouldn’t want those sites to lose business. I agree we need more stuff on this site though. Maybe just a new layout, like make the blogs into a feed like a Facebook feed or whatever so people are more active and you don’t have to navigate through forums and stuff to see people’s art and thoughts. Also there needs to be mobile access from non-iphone phones. The site doesn’t work from my Galaxy S4.

I totally agree with you Brandon, on every aspect u mentioned!
Tbh I don’t think the other sites will lose business, because it’s been busy here in the past and the other sites had plenty of active members at that time too!
I think the layout as such is fine, new features like the stuff u mentioned would be sweet tho!

Yeah it’s kinda a PC exclusive thing (for me at least)

That’s right!

I come to LPU page once or twice a day but used to come frequently earlier when I joined a year ago !
I love to discuss a lot about LP, share new pictures, discuss more about their new album, song, their music style etc.

LPAssociation has lot of active users and lot of things happen there as you guys said ! But we should try to make this community active by some interesting topics

kinda already made a topic about this issue haha
check it out here
and see what others had to say
i hope Lorenzo reads it and replies to it someday?

I’d like if they brought back wallpapers and ringtones. It wouldn’t really keep people coming back constantly, but maybe give more reason to join, even for something small. Also, periodic music downloads like in the past? Lockjaw - LPU8, Morning After Live - LPU9 (joined LPU8, can’t say anything about previous years, but I think I would have heard the songs if there were any). More band/band related chats would be nice, too. Also, just fixing the damn forums, these suck so bad compared to a free to use site like LPLive and LPAssociation

i been coming on the live feed just about every day since i joined and there is hardly any one on and not much conversation going on for the ones who are, its like pulling teeth to get group conversation going sometimes lol

Yes! LPU definitely needs to be revived, maybe they should go old school again.

I had some thoughts about the LPU13 merch, but it crosses into the general “what LPU provides” here http://lpunderground.com/forum/the_underground/2818293#post_30487153

To sum-up the link, more fan-based content. Specifically having the photos from LP gigs and LPU M&Gs beyond 2011 reuploaded, and the ability to tag members.

I think ringtones and wallpapers are a bygone, I don’t think that will bring people back to the site. What I do believe would bring people back, would be to refresh the forums (I don’t know what software powers the forums, but definitely go back to basics like phpBB) and create a HTML5 app accessible from iOS, Android and W8/WP8; then you have discussions sparked by the LPU team every week.

The site itself looks very good, responsive design. But the organisation of menus and pages feels disjointed; prime example being clicking on Community - all the sub-menu options are actually kinda overwhelmed by the rest of the page and easily miss-able, not to mention it’s a faff to click Community and the Forums to get to the discussions. A flat design makes usability more enjoyable.

Better integration with the Facebook and Twitter channels might be a good idea too, but I can’t think how that would be achieved right now (getting a bit sleepy over here).

I never participated much in the LPU community when I was younger, despite being a member for the majority of the last decade, so I cannot comment on how it was. I can only imagine a lot of people jumped to LPAssociation and LPLive etc forums because of Sparkart complaints (which I experienced a lot) that provided a need for an alternative. These are separate communities in themselves now, so it’s hard to break people away and back to LPU; a radical method would be to try and merge those forums with LP.com and LPU.com then using the excellent staff there so it is totally fan-driven with no interference by LP/LPU other than hosting issues, however that would effectively kill those sites.

A quick disclaimer, I think LPU of the past 4 years has been excellent. The number of new experiences and goodies being offered is very good, I think the community is still there but dispersed across the fan sites.

Edit: Here’s a last minute thought, what about gig wristbands printed with special links to LP.com/LPU.com that a) loads tweets/fb updates about the gig, b) allows discussion of the setlist and c) provides the fan-based content I originally taped into (photos, videos of the crowd etc) ^^^

I miss the LPU forum from back in the day. The 3.0-9.0 forums. LPUX and onwards forums aren’t very good. This could partially be why there is lack of activity here…

I think ringtones and wallpapers would make LPU a bit better but not more active . We need sonething that makes you come every day to LPU to check it out.
I check LPU every day to look for news and if theres anything interesting going on in the forums… That’s not enough

This is my first year in the LPU, so I can’t compare with years before, like some people did.
I enter the site almost every day and I think it is a little bit stuck. I don’t know why it seems that never have something new.
My suggestion is… What I would like to see more here is more videos of the band. I really like to see those videos. Chas always makes me laugh. And more news too, something related to the new CD, to the tour… I don’t know, can’t think about something more specific.
I guess wallpapers and ringtones are a good idea, but don’t think people will come more often here because of them.
And about the layout of the site I don’t have anything to complain. I like it just because it’s different from the others, although a interface with FB would be cool.

Well… That’s my point of view… hope it helped something…
