Random Thoughts Thread: The Reunion!

I would say that to some extent the technology gives people an illusion that it brings them together.
You can communicate with people from all over the world just like we do here.

But on the other hand, sometimes it’s hard to talk to someone next to you cause (s)he is busy using the technology to communicate with someone else, somewhere else.

There was a picture from the last century ( early),where it said that books in the houses will tear the families apart and it showed a family around a table where each member was reading a book.
This whole “internet-communication-global” thing is still very fresh and as humans we tend to over-consume it. The new generations, that were born with this technology, probably they will handle it better.
But think about it, if there was not youtube how could we see all those wonderful videos that people recorded on live shows? Or how could we talk to long distance friends without paying an arm and a leg to telephone companies? Or do so many amazing things online? ETA by technology I don’t mean only the internet… There are so many wonderful things that ,they just didn’t exist when I was growing up
We will adapt I am sure!

I just remember life with no internet or mobile phones.
I realize there is no way back. Off course, I use the technology but still think it’s a real life prosthesis.

Absolutely, where do I sign up?

True, that’s a negative consequence and online communication will never feel like face-to-face communication in my opinion.

I remember that life too… But as lonv as we use our brains we can use technology in moderation

Says the musician who compose with Russia half way around the world.
:joy: :joy:

Yes but again, that’s the beneficial side of technology that enables us to communicate and work together!

Went on our usual walk around with my manager this morning (we do this on busy weekends to check what’s up around in the park, how busy it is etc) and he was like asking me how I’m holding up and stuff like that (cause I’ve mentioned how tired I am lately) and we ended up talking about July coming up and without mentioning any names or incidents, he assured me it’s going to be alright and that it’s ok if I’m not giving my 100% the next coming weeks. It amazes me he takes things like this into consideration. Then again he’s been through it himself so he understands. But still, I appreciate it that he cares.

So, I just found myself on Steam for some reason…and I came away with 6 games for just over £18 (which is a damn good deal) :man_facepalming: . This is after I swore to myself that I’d never go back to gaming. I’m not sure what to think about what I’ve just done. At least it’ll let me test my laptop’s gaming performance I suppose.

Lol. What games did you purchase?

I actualy bought some more after I posted that. FML.

I got:

  • Crysis
  • Crysis Warhead
  • Crysis Wars (this is technically the multiplayer portion of Crysis, but for some reason it’s its own game)
  • Crysis 2 Maximum Edition
  • Tomb Raider Game Of The Year Edition
  • Rise Of The Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration Edition
  • Batman Arkham Asylum Game Of The Year Edition
  • Hitman Absolution
  • Hitman Sniper Challenege (this is an extension of absolution which is its own game for some reason as well)

Everything apart from ROTTR and CW are games I used to own, they’re all from the era in which I played. I’m not looking to get back into gaming, hence why I’m not buying new stuff. I got all of them for a total of £25.20, that makes it £2.80 per game.

My concern now is a relapse into what I was like before. I purged 10 years worth of progress on my PS3 for exactly this reason, so that I’m not tempted to come down. I supposed I can take some comfort in the fact that as I was playing TR last night, I wasn’t feeling the same level or joy or interest as I did when I played it some years ago on PS3.

I wish Google’s Fourth of July baseball welcome screen was a year-round thing.

One comparison stuck with me:
To say, there is no other life besides us in the universe is like going to Africa looking for lions and giraffes. And after you searched one square meter said: There are non. I know now.
