This one’s obviously inspired by my recent shoe shopping.

What kind of shoes do you typically wear (ones required as part of a uniform don’t count).

  • Trainers
  • Overpriced plimsols (Converse/Vans)
  • Flip flops
  • Sandals
  • Hiking boots
  • Wellies
  • Other boots
  • Heels
  • Flats
  • Formal leather shoes
  • Other (post below)

Used to wear Vans and never have shoes felt more comfortable to me. Plus they weren’t overpriced

Like Steph, when I’m home I usually wear slippers, when I go out I wear trainers

Paying more than £10 for plimsols is pushing it.

I don’t mean for home, those who wear shoes in their homes are psychopaths. :joy:

By that definition, yes they were overpriced

Trainers on free time, but always heels or ballet flat at work.

Trainers on free time, probably overpriced ones .
Hiking boots or rubber boots at work.

Usually trainers. Sandals in summertime. Hiking boots for hiking. Winter boots in winter (or so-called winter).

Lmao, hearing the term ‘plimsols’ is a first for me :joy: We’d probably just call them casual shoes over here. The ones I wear everyday would probably fall under the category of casual as well, but they are neither vans nor converse. The only other shoes I have are my gym shoes, my cleats, and the fancy shoes for special occasions. I got boots too but only wear them rarely for emergencies.

Funny you should say that. I had to look up what cleats were. We call them football boots over here. Plimsolls are what every primary school kid has to do PE in. You buy them for a fiver and then you either wear them until you destroy or outgrow them and then buy them again. That’s why I never understood why Converse and Vans are so popular. you might as well walk around with nothing on your feet, certainly feels like it to me.

They’re not soft, they have no support, they aren’t warm, they don’t stop water from getting in, they’re not durable, they’re not good looking, they don’t have grip and in the case of a pair of converse that a classmate had in high school, they leak red die into your foot when you either get sweaty or walk through a puddle. The only advantage plimsols have is that they’re dirt cheap.

Over here Converse and Vans are casual shoes. They’re more about the name than anything (like Nike and Supreme). Converse used to be a popular basketball shoes, but now it’s just mostly worn by grade school girls. Vans are primarily a skateboarding shoe I believe, but I’d bet 80% of the people wearing them have never skated in their lives.

Wtf are wellies? Also, maybe it’s that it’s been a while but the British terms are hitting hard at 1 am :flushed:

Quite honestly, I wear a lot of diff stuff…I have plenty vans of diff colors, indoor and outdoor football/soccer cleats, work boots, casual boots, running, etc etc
If I had them organized in a closet I’d say I’m a chick :flushed:

Wellingtons, rubber boots that reach knee height.

If you think converse are over priced then you haven’t seen anything. People be paying over 2 or 3 hundred for a pair of shoes, when I’ve never seen converse over $80.
