Questions to get answered!

I have something that has been bugging me for years. In the original track listing for Minutes To Midnight, there was 17 tracks on it.
I know four of the five songs that were cut from the album: No Roads Left,Across The Line, Behind Your Lies and What We Don’t Know. But What is the fifth one??

I have no clue what you’re talking about, but was it either Pretend To Be or Announcement Service Public?

Pretend To Be was in 2008 and a Demo for A Thousand Suns, but it could be the Announcement Service Public. because they maybe mada a instrumental track for the album just lika all the others

ASP was only made for announcements for concerts or something like that, i think, and mtm already has an instrumental: Wake!
I think LP will release the 5th track in a lpu cd one day

Yes MTM have a intro/instrumental, just like Meteora and ATS, but I ment that MTM had another instrumental at the end like: Cure For The Itch, Session, Fallout and Tinfoil!

Wasn’t Blackbirds from Minutes to Midnight?
Wasn’t Blackbirds from Minutes to Midnight?

Yeah if you watch the making of Minutes To Midnight, you can hear Blackbirds on it, so it can be Blackbirds but I don’t think that Blackbirds sounded completely finished, so I don’t think that the fifth song was Blackbirds, it could be!

Tinfoil, session, fallout and so on are all interludes to their following song and i don’t think that NRL, WWDN, QWERTY or across the line would fit to ASP. Blackbirds could be the 5th one, I don’t know if it was finished at time of MTM, but i don’t see another alternative!

yeah it could be! But I hope not actually, I hope that the fifth song is a song that we haven’t heard yet. But Linkin Park haven’t actually confirmed that NRL,WWDK,BYL and ATL are the four song that was cut from the tracklisting. But since they put NRL on the tour edition, I’m pretty sure that it was on the tracklisting.!

Yes I hope so too! Maybe it will come with the LPU13-CD

Yeah I can’t wait for both the LPU13 and their new album, and Recharged  !!
I hope that they put more unreleased songs than demoes, but I love demoes too ;)!!

Protip: Referring to QWERTY as “Behind Your Lies” is a guaranteed way to get yourself laughed at.

Anyway, the CONFIRMED b-sides from Minutes to Midnight are No Roads Left, Across the Line, What We Don’t Know, and Blackbirds. QWERTY was NOT one of them.

QWERTY was released on LPU 6 prior to MTM’s release, so it was cut from album consideration long before it ever got to the “final tracklisting selection” phase. The same can be said for most of the instrumental/“unfinished” demos from that period (Announcement Service Public, Pale, Debris, Bunker, Clarity, Yo, Homecoming, Asbestos). Not Alone and Pretend to Be were both songs that were “seeds” from the MTM period, but weren’t finished until after the album was released.

So yeah, we have 16 of the 17 songs that were in consideration for the final tracklisting. No idea what the last one is, or what became of it. HOWEVER, I have a theory…there was a song title that was seen on the “tracking boards” in the studio numerous times in LPTV/Making of Minutes to Midnight - “Ammosick.” We’ve never heard this demo, BUT it appeared on studio tracking boards again while the band was working on A Thousand Suns, meaning it was carried over to the next album’s recording sessions. We don’t know if Ammosick ended up making A Thousand Suns or not (we don’t know the working titles for all of the songs on that album), but either way, it very well could have been the 17th song from MTM.

Yeah it might be Ammosick, I’ve wondered about that one for quite some time.
QWERTY is the demo version, where you can hear before the first chorus ‘’ A victim of your pride’’

 • Broken down a victim of your pride. Fire so out of control. Every memory and confession born out of your soul. And Like that. Broken down. A victim of your lies. You hide behind…

I actually don’t think that ‘Ammosick’ was the 17th song, because it sounds like something they will call their demoes, The demo 'Debris was from MTM, but you can hear Debris on the making of A Thousand Suns.

QWERTY was never called “Behind Your Lies.” Both versions are on the LPU 6 CD, and both are called “QWERTY.”

But QWERTY sounds like a demo name, if the song had been on the album, the title of the song wouldn’t had been QWERTY but most likely Behind Your Lies!!, the demo is QWERTY, but the unreleased song is Behind Your Lies. but it hasen’t been confirmed as a unreleased song. the demo version is the one you can hear on LPU06. They made the song for MTM, and if it had been on the album, it whouldn’t fit in with the title QWERTY!

Astat is correct, both versions are called “QWERTY”. We can have opinions on whether the title would fit in with the album or if it sounds like a demo name, but that’s all we were given. There is absolutely no reason or evidence to believe the title “Behind Your Lies” exists.

OK. That’s true. I fold. But he’s wrong with saying that if I call the song Behind Your Lies, that I will get laught at!!
OK. That’s true. I fold. But he’s wrong with saying that if I call the song Behind Your Lies, that I will get laught at!!
From what I remember, when it first appeared on YouTube, it was named QWERTY (Behind Your Lies)

Great job Astat on discovering that Ammosick might have been the 17th MTM track.
