WOW that’s so neat. I want to get my hands on the Surface Pro 7. That’s in the same price range of a Samsung S20 Ultra. Crazy if you compare it. A smartphone or an entire kick ass laptop.
I have a small compact Wacom Bamboo tablet with the pen.Still use it. Amazing thing.

Hey guys i have a few LP related creations i have done in a 3d software. It’s not typical painting or drawing. So is it okay to share it here?

Yeah, why not? Also, which software?

Thanks i’ll be posting it

Wouldn’t it be cool to have this for real…
Software is called 3D Max from Autodesk.

Is the UI as infuriating as all their other stuff? I use Fusion regularly but they keep changing the UI, I’ve been meaning to learn Inventor but haven’t had the time and I also need to get reacquainted with AutoCAD.

The UI is as decent as any other software of it’s class.I like it as it’s very logical in it’s place.Like you know where everything is. They don’t keep changing it every year. It’s mainly for architecture and interior. Autocad of 2014 was the best as in was stable. Later versions copied the ribbon toolbar of the Mac version.

That’s the first time I’ve heard someone say that about the default layout of an autodesk product, every time I’ve sat down to use one I’ve had to spend 15-20 mins to rearrange all the tool bars and reprogram the macros. Fusion’s UI changes every other update and they update it every month or so, it drives me up the wall. Not to mention, Fusion is cloud based service, yet your preferences and settings are store locally. I’m actually tempted to jump ship to SolidWorks, but I haven’t got time to learn it, despite having it installed.

I’ve not used Fusion or Solid works. I use Maya too and they change a lot of their menus, given they are a much larger software. Max however keeps it as it is. I really like that. Once you save your workspace its local and anything goes wrong just delete the preset folder and your’e back to the original layout.

That’s the bit that annoyed me about Fusion, I was having Windows issues (as usual) had to wipe my entire boot drive and all my Fusion settings got reset, and I’m obviously not going to remember every single thing I changed. I actually have most of the functions mapped to my keyboard, though I need to remap them to my new mouse.

Can I ask which field you work in? I don’t typcially see people on here that use these kinds of programs.

I don’t keep anything mapped. I just use the shortcuts given by default and they are good enough.
I used to work in a 3d animation studio, now i teach. Just Max and Maya,Cad and few Adobe ones.

Nice to know someone with similar softwares too.

Oh neat, you guys don’t get enough credit, people don’t realise how much effort can go into even a 200 frame animation.

I don’t use 3D software as part of what I do. I’m an engineering student finishing up my masters this year (frankly part of me is wishing I walked away when I got my bachelors last year lol), I use it almost exclusively for 3D printing. I deal more with various simulation softwares.

Good morning,
Yeah its a lot of work to get seconds worth of animation done right…lol

I love simulation, Maya got the Bifrost system and Max got MASH i think. I love blowing stuff up if i used to deal with particle systems and dynamics. I’ve never done 3D printing though.
