"One More Light" Mega-Topic, Out Now!

Just figured I’d follow up my original songlist now that it’s been a couple of weeks. So, my revised songlist from favorite to least:

One More Light
Halfway Right
Heavy/Sorry For Now
Nobody Can Save Me/Good Goodbye/Invisible
Battle Symphony
Talking to Myself/Sharp Edges

Halfway Right might end up my favorite off the album…

For LP, I find that generally if I like the first single at launch, I’ll eventually grade it down. And vice versa. We’ll see if Heavy follows the same pattern lol.

You would think I would come back to the new record by one of my favorite bands pretty frequently, huh? This one is a bit too forgettable. Over time the rating is just getting worse

I have just seen the new clip on YouTube:

My reaction - it’s good that bands try out to explore different genres of music and try to experiment. I really like that idea. Also Rob talking about half of the video was great as he is normally the quietest member of the group but he really went all out on this. Chester just eating in the background was just priceless, I had to watch it twice as I kept watching him. Another good thing about these is that not many bands would do this type of thing. I know that some of my favourites does like Depeche Mode, Alice Cooper but not into massive detail and it lets me as a fan explore the background of an album.
For that, I need to congratulate them for these episodes and to let me become a die hard fan of LP.

I’m still loving the new album and is my daily thing now but my favourite track is Halfway Right and Talking to Myself.:heart:

I know that some people are very happy as I am about their new album “One More Light” is out and some may be upset about it but they will get over it some day or time Hopefully. I am not going to rate each song only if I need to. I love almost all of the songs from the album.

Understand that this is not about this topic, but tell me why is people much more into HT than OML? I really don’t get it like, ok when I am listening to music this is the album (HT) that I always listen to with (HT EP) as well. Is it because I am into their old album or is it because I miss these song I really don’t get it, but don’t get me wrong I really love their new album I really don’t have no hate against it. What is the reason for this. I am just wondering.

Dude, I felt the same way about this album. Although I do like the sound and music, I just felt like it wasn’t linkin park anymore. I mean there isn’t even one hard song on the album!!! (that was severly disappointing and depressing) I’m still going to the concert (this is only my second one) but at least most of the music they play will be off the other albums

Are you sure you listened to the right album? Sorry For Now is SIGNIFICANTLY better the louder you play it with headphones, so give that a try. Enjoy the rock beats in Talking To Myself! Sit down and relax to Invisible and thing about how people put expectations on you. Just really listen intently to the lyrical meanings of Halfway Right and Sharp Edges, they a lyrical masterpieces and are so different to their usual stuff! (although ‘different’ is LP’s career in a nutshell!).

After listening to OML song the first time, the beauty of it shook me big time. Chester really hurts in this song, you can hear it in his voice. After the manchester bombing in my own city, I listened to it again with those who died in mind…it has a WHOLE new meaning. The only things as powerful as OMLsong imo is The Messenger and the more mellow stuff on M2M like In pieces, TLTGYA, shadow of the day etc.

Well, everyone’s gonna have different preferences, right? I personally like Hybrid Theory more than One More Light. But, I think One More Light is a lot better than the last album, the Hunting Party.

But I think Living Things is a better album than Hybrid Theory. To each their own.

I’m not saying it wasn’t a good album by any means. Heavy hit me really hard as did one more light. I was just really looking forward to at least one song that still sounded like the old them, ya know? I mean that’s what I fell in love with at 12 years old when hybrid theory came out. I understand sound changes over time, but I feel like they should have at least one or 2 songs that still reflect on how they were in the beginning, at least for us fans that are older and have been listening to them since day 1…

If you’re looking for a song that reflects how they were at the beginning you’ll have to go back to Meteora! Or maybe QWERTY! Everything since Meteora has been different. Mike described their process of writing albums as “each album has to be its own world” and I think that alone clashes with your wish for each album to have something that reflects their beginnings of nu-metal/pop-rock. They did do Heavy in nu-metal style so I guess that’s something for you? Talking To Myself is pretty pop-rock and is closer to Meteora than anything since 2012 imo

Ok take the hunting party for example. Keys to the kingdom, guilty all the same, to me those still have a “piece” of them from the beginning, even though the sound of the music is different. I think one of the biggest differences to me is Chester doesn’t do his raspy or screamo voice in any songs on this new album. I’m not a huge fan of the heavy metal screamo stuff, but I LOVE when he does it. I guess that’s probably what I’m missing in this album…

Here’s Linkin Park on the track

I really feel bad for the ones saying the album was just synth and computer beat without anything else lol

Awesome! Can’t wait for Sorry For Now instrumental

lol I’ve been listening to them since I was 3 years old … dad found them at ozzfest 2000 and fell in love and played them all the time in the car (I was 3) … so speak for yourself about the day one thing cause I’ve been there since day one and I like this album just as much as HT… I like HT and I like OML in the same way… it’s still LP…

i do agree

Hello guys!!
I’ve been out for a couple of weeks because I didn’t want to spoiler myself to anything else related to OML besides the songs that were released until I get the new album, so that I could listen to it with less “interference” as possible.
I received my copy last week and I made a blog talking about each song. But here’s my opinion… although I’m more into the “rock side” of the band, I really liked OML. I’m the kind of the person that takes everything to the emotional side. And OML is very emotional!! As they did lyrics first, I also payed attention first to the lyrics than rhytthm. And each song reminded me of a situation that I had passed throw. So OML is getting a special place in my ! I can’t stop listennig to it. Mode repeat ON :repeat: LOL

I remember that’s what killed me when I first heard What I’ve Done. But I think over time, I opened up my expectations a bit.

Incidentally, Minutes to Midnight is my least favorite album, but What I’ve Done has emerged as one of my top 25ish songs

I am speaking for myself, it’s my opinion and how I feel. I understand that most people love this album and that’s completely ok. And like I said, I don’t dislike it at all, it’s just definitely not my favorite. I wasn’t bashing or anything. I will always love LP. They’ve literally been my favorite band since the first time I heard in the end and crawling, and they always will be. I didn’t mean to offend you if I did. Was just really trying to see if anyone else felt the same as me.

Me too, especially Nobody Can Save and Halfway Right. If you notice, they use the same atmospheric vibe like ATS and Living Things.
