I already think this album has a lot more than people expect, they just picked a single that, while the core sound of the album, turned people away. I feel like they try to pick the single that will turn the most people away in order to see who actually will give their music a chance.
I just considered today, what if the collabs would not have been with these mainstream pop-singers but with tfk, disturbed, 21pltsā¦ this would have beenā¦
#YES!
ā¦ we all knew this finally, and it would have been comfortable for the guys. I played the Killara song to my daughter, she was hyped immidiately, so maybe it is our present to force in the next generation- with our āGeneralsā leadingā¦

Thereās this connection with Linkin Park with me that canāt be broken. Itās like with a friend. If you dont like something your friend does or you develop conflicts, you donāt say āfuck offā and leave. This doesnāt mean I will forcefully like everything they put out but I will support them no matter what they do because I donāt see them as a band most of the time but as a group of six great human beings.
Not exactly album-related but I wanted to share this and I didnāt want to make a separate thread for this.
As mentioned earlier, this interview says the whole album will sound similar to Heavy
Today iāve heard heavy on the radio the first time (Germany). It sounds a bit different, but better. But i still donāt like it much.
If heavy is the core sound of the album i think itās ok, maybe the other songs are more powerfull.
There is so much hate out to the song.
Why they listen so the song if they donāt like?
Itās much work and the guys are proud of it.
Still canāt wait for the albumā¦
And waiting for news.
Have anyone heard something about the length from the songs? Are they really so short?
Wellā¦ I see what you mean. Writing this comment i sticked to the fact that Mike said Heavy is the core of the album and other 9 songs will sound the same.
Andā¦ you are so right!
When meteora came out i was only 2 so i didnt know about such a negative reaction of fans. and its so surprising for me to find it out! because now most of the fans repeat over and over how they love the bands early music and how they would be glad to hear the third album of the range. What i understand now is that there would always be people to judge whatever the band creates! The people would always find something to blame them for. So all I have to do as a person who takes their music seriosly is to try to understand what the band want to say to the whole world throughout the music. They actually never create meaningless songs as many others do just for money. Even the instrumental melodies without any lyrics are a way to express emotions which we need to understand. Andā¦ its a great reason to stop waiting something from the band. They are what they are. They tried to stick to the listeners opinions once, and what did they get? aggression, again! so i guess being more experienced they stopped following opinions, because its impossible to make everybody happy. They create what they want to create. All they experiment with is the sound. And only those fans who do not judge the book by its cover, as you said, take the music seriously. Love heavy music? Go and have some Metallica then. They have about 10 similar albums and they would probably never change their style. LP is for ones who understand music.
Here i agree with you: Its always some time before you fall in love with the album. I remember now, at first it was hard for me to get used to MTM style. But i got in some time! I understand now: I adore their way of self-expression. all a fan needs to do is to get used to changes which happen really often. Sometimes its hard and sometimes not. I think i`ve said enough.
(p.s. sorry for my english, i only learn it )
I think we will find out more about the sound of the album with the second single
artemiy_soldatov, agree with you, because we never know what to expect. Chester says this song is different from others in the album, and Mike says all the songs will sound the same. I think they are going to surprise us with the next one.
No worries, English is not my first language either. And I understand that āHeavyā being the ācore soundā doesnāt mean that itāll all sound the same but that itāll follow the same lines: more vocal work, a lot of piano and a softer presence of other instruments. I think that in another interview he said that there wonāt be screaming and that he doesnāt rap much (although I donāt know, maybe Iām mixing his and Chesterās interviews?? ). Which is quite different from what we got in THP, so yeah, it may sound strange at first. I just think people are overreacting a bit. And thatās what you said, maybe the album actually sucks, but weāll still have the others. Many fans of Metallica hate St. Anger. Many fans of Iron Maiden hate The Final Frontier. But lo and behold, they are still floating their boatsā¦ People are already burying LP without even getting the album. Thereās too drama for too little, I thinkā¦
That is actually funny
Haha Iāve seen a few pictures now - one with Joe wearing it, one with Chester and now Mike!
If English is your second language, then I canāt even imagine your grammar and sentence structure skills with your firstā¦
Hahahaha, thanks!
Man, you guys still biscuiting about āHeavyā? And about it only being 10 songs? Itās just two or three songs less of their other albums. So. What?
Metallicaās fourth album had 9. Heck one of Mudvayneās cd had 7. Do you guys know how much time goes into a album? Into a song, remember how many times Mike had to change Bleed It Out? But 10 songsā¦is such a sinā¦
I think the annoying thing for me is the people who said Heavy was too short, even though Faint was about 15 seconds shorter, and most of Meteora was around the same length. I just think 10 songs is a tad short for the kind of music Linkin Park makes, but thatās just me.
Iād rather have a few great songs by Linkin Park than many mediocre songs.
If Heavy was any longer, it would be too long, if that makes sense. The song is a perfect length when you hear it - not looking at how many minutes/seconds it is. Who cares the length of a song - what it comes down to is the music and the lyrics of it. If it all sounds great then why are we complaining that itās 30 seconds shorter than an other song ?
o.O
Right ! I went through a bad period where I wasnāt able to listen to the music I wanted to - When when I did, I wasnāt exactly impressed with some of the songs I heard. But thatās what happens. You have to try new things and see what fits. If I would have given up on Linkin Park then, I would have missed out on sooo much fantastic music.
Perhaps everyone doesnāt see it that way though ;o
