Mosh pit banned at CT LP concert

Anyone know why there was no mosh pits allowed at Cape Town Stadium LP show?

Watching these guys for years and was so amped to mosh and then everyone gets told mosh pits are banned. wtf! if i wanted to see bon jovi i’ll buy tickets to their gig in may.

Im guessing its a safety thing… personally i prefer no mosh, i want to enjoy the show with my girlfriend with out the worry that she will get knocked out.

good thing. i’m going to a concert to see the band and enjoy they’re music, not to mosh with some other. And i see it get more and more annoying to other people.
When u want it, go on street punsh some one in the face and u get the same result… IMO.

Going to a concert with an artist performing with the caliber of LP and not being able to mosh is just plain wrong. If you don’t want to be in the mosh pit then buy seat tickets then. Its as easy as that. I go to a concert to see my favorite artists preform and have an amazing time by rocking the hell out. I honestly don’t see the point of just standing there taking pictures and videos and barely moving while a highly energetic show is going on. Then again, I’m a crazy mother fucker [biggrin] Sucks to hear that you guys couldn’t go crazy in Cape Town.

I want to be in the golden circle because I want to see the band with my own eyes, not through a big screen or binoculars. You guys who want to mosh aren’t interested in watching the performance, so why don’t you go hang back in general admission or something? Don’t be so selfish.

They have some extremely nice seat tickets available that are right next to the stage. I know this because because for my first LP concert I had to buy seat tickets because all the Pit tickets were sold out because of a messed up pre-sale. I guess it all depends on the venue as well but most venues will have some good seats, you just have to be dedicated and be one of the first to buy them. We aren’t interested in the performance? That is exactly why we wait on line all day long to be in the front so we could be against the barricade and totally not even look at the band. Because that makes sense. Idk if you realize but the majority of people who mosh and jump up and down are in the front. Its a rock concert not a country concert. We go their to see or favorite artists and have a good time while we do it. If you can’t handle the pit and want to be stubborn and not get seat tickets then then stay home and watch the show on a webcast or something. If anything they encourage people to as Mike would say it, “get the fuck up.”

Maybe you didn’t read my post properly. I said you weren’t interested in WATCHING the performance. How can you keep your head turned towards the stage while you’re moshing? I know you’re there for the performance. We all are. But some of us are there to watch and listen, and some are there to mosh and listen. I think the ones who want to watch should be closer to the stage. It only makes sense.
And for your information, moshing isn’t the only physical way to show your excitement. We all like to jump and bounce. Can’t do that from stage-side seats. The general standing area behind Golden Circle has nice barricades too. You guys can go mosh there and totally not look at the band.

Look, I’m not against the mosh pit. I acknowledge that it’s a great way for people to have fun at a rock concert. I’m just saying it’s not for everyone. And if you’re not gonna be looking at the band anyway, then why do you need to be so close to the stage? Why not leave that area free for people who want to be close to the band, and you can move towards the rear of the standing area? That way everyone wins.

I’m not against mosh pit either, just wanna notice that usually ppls doing smth like this not in the front but somewhere in the middle. You always know where they start. So thats mean you have a choice. In first lines ppls barely can move and jump so we feel some waves from the back.

Mosh pits are nice to watch from afar. I personally go to concerts to watch and enjoy the band. And when I imagine, that the people on my left and on my right suddenly begin to start pogo and to run in circles, then that is kinda scary not a pretty good imagination. For this reason, I would prefer, if mosh pits don’t happen. And to tell the truth: A show without mosh pits don’t loose anything of their atmosphere.

I totally understood your post. You didn’t understand my post. Moshing is not just running around and pushing and jumping into people. That is just one form. Jumping and bouncing = a form of moshing. And yes you can do that from stage-side seats as I have done it. At the 2011 Madison Square Garden show the whole place from the pit to the people all the way at the top of the arena in the nose bleed seats were jumping up and done and rocking out. It was insane. When I mosh I mostly just jump up and down. If I wasn’t interested in watching the performance I wouldn’t be there. Depending on what you are doing its easy to mosh, watch, and listen to the show. I think we just have different definitions and interpretations of moshing. If the people who just want to watch and listen want to be at the front of the pit then they should get their earlier and wait online just like the rest of us.

If you go into the standing area of a concert for a band like LP it’s a given a mosh pit is bound to occur. I knew that when I went to the concert in Alpharetta back in August, my first concert ever. I didnt care though it was absolutely worth it being dead center front row right by the stage. I did get shoved into the baracades and elbowed in the face twice while catching Chester’s drumstick but i would do it again in a heartbeat. the entire experience was a rush.
