Back at the Vancouver show my friend and I both went, only one thing, She won the meet and greet and I didn’t. Of course I was sad but at the same time overly happy for her.
I was just thinking though, instead of choosing so many people, why not pick half the amount and then the people that are selected can bring in 1 guest? The guest though would have to be an active LPU member. In a way it seems better than having one friend go in and the other sitting in the corner (crying) waiting for his/her friend to come back out.
But the fact that you guys do Meet and Greets is amazing so don’t stop that.

But yeah, this was just an idea but I thought someone would agree with me… (hopefully)

I’ve also already thought about your proposal. And I agree! I’ve never met the Band. But it would be kinda stupid, if my husband has to wait one somewhere outside.

On the other hand, the disadvantage could be, that eventually people would be dragged to the m&g, who aren’t real LP fans. But i’m sure, they would become fans after the m&g and the concert very soon :wink: There could be a requirement for the non LPU escorts to pay 10 $ to Music For Relief as a entree charge. This would keep out stupid uninterested people. I would like to know, how the band think about this m&g suggestion.

Beside of that: Much more important for me would be, that we are allowed to bring 1 person to the early entry. Adam had announced, that this will be allowed in the future, but this is months ago and it seems that LPHQ won’t change this. Almost everyone comes to a concert with a friend. But I can’t let the person stand outside, while I get in early. Who does that? Where is the problem to bring 1 friend? Can’t see it.

Your idea sounds fine, but when it comes to me, I don’t have friends who’re big LP fans. They’re only semi-fans that tag along to their concerts with me, because I don’t want to go alone, and I would feel bad for bringing any of my friends to a M&G when I know that A LOT of LPU members would appreciate the M&G more but won’t get the chance.

I’m also much more interested in the + 1 friend for the Early Entry, especially since I plan on not going alone, the next time LP comes to play in Denmark/Sweden. So I hope that’ll change for the upcoming Europe Tour much more than I want the rules of the M&G to change. :slight_smile:

If you all remember, back in 2009 they changed the m&g. It was 8-12 people ONLY and with 2 members of the band ONLY. That led to many complaints since a lot of us missed out on a almost certain m&g and without all of them.

I like it the way it is now. Standing greet is the best they’ve done so far in my opinion from what I’ve read and seen and I hope I’ll get to experience it soon.

The 1 guest thing is like saying, to invite a non LPUer to a m&g which an LPU exclusive. Wouldn’t that be unfair for all of us?

This would be even worse than the previous system mentioned by EvoOba. Lots of (admit it, righteous) bitterness would ensue and in the end, we would go back to the old system. And 60-70 members (sometimes less) is definitely not “so many people”.

Your second sentence sums it up.

In my honest opinion, this is the point.
M&G is something special, something exclusive for LPUers… it would be quite unfair if any non-LPUer could join it, don’t you think so?
Cuz. yeah, it’d be so bad to leave a friend outside, but if everyone could bring a non-LPUer with him/her, there’d be also less possibilities for us LPUers to be selected for a M&G…

About the early entry, I remember at first Adam said that, unlike for M&G, we could bring 1 guest with us… but then they changed the rules and no guests are allowed for early entry too… I dunno, but MAYBE cuz there’d be too much people entering early(?). Anyway I can understand more if someone request to bring a friend with him/her for the early entry than for the M&G…

Think with me. If you are goin’ to the concert with someone that is not a hardcore fan a person that really likes the band will be crying outside because he was not selected. It’s not fair.

why cant there be more people admited into th m&g? like 100 or so is better than 40 or 50? its sad that not all of us can meet them.

Simple. Because of lack of time. Plus, the band can’t just sit/stand there sign 100-150 different things. It would take ages. Also, in countries like Germany and the UK and the States, m&g entries are over 350 most of the time. Imagine the chaos if all of them went to a m&g.
We should just be grateful they even do the m&g…

I was wondering about it too. I’ve never been to a M&G before though…I don’t know any LPU-ers in my country and I’m scared to go alone if I ever won a chance…So bringing a friend along would be fun, especially since she’s a fan but can’t be a member here ( Sad D: ) At least for accompaniment.
However, I’m sure I would meet other LPU-ers if I go… I wanna go one day! :slight_smile: hahahaha

This is a very interesting discussion :smiley: I didn’t realise it was single person only - I assumed guests were allowed with the people who got lucky in the draw and personally I think it sucks. For example, I would rather much be outside with my o/h knowing that someone else was inside with their o/h, than to be inside meeting the band on my own (I think! ;D)

However, I do understand the point that everyone is making: yes it means allowing people who aren’t as big as fans as other people chance to meet the band. But for those who get to meet them it can be the most amazing experience ever and I can understand why they might like to share it with a friend/partner/family member. Okay maybe the ‘guest’ shouldn’t get the same experience as the person who gets selected, but it sounds a bit unfair that they can’t be near by i.e. to take photos or something?

Anyway that’s just my opinion and it would be interesting to see what the ‘majority’ of LPUers would prefer so I hope this thread generates more discussion

I agree. I mean, me and my husband are both LPU members, but he went to an M&G once and I had to wait for him. I’ve never been to one myself and I’m hoping I get chosen in the future. There are pros and cons to the situation. I’m just glad that LP are doing M&G. Some get lucky and some don’t. It’s a gamble to see if you get chosen. All I can say is keep on trying. :slight_smile:

In my opinion the best way to go about this would be changing the way we sign up for the meet and greet.

they could change the Sign up form for 2 people together, so when you enter the contest you enter with a friend, that should also be a LPUer. So when they pick people, they pick by “couples” so if you get picked, so does ur friend.

I think it’s the only way it would be fair to everyone, cuz allowing a non-LPUer to go a M&G when there’s a ton of us that are LPUers and are here dying for a chance to meet them wouldn’t be fair to us.

But for the Early entry it would be cool to be able to bring 1 guest, When I went to see LP in Mansfield in August I couldn’t go early, had to wait because of my boyfriend cuz he’s not a LPUer, (now if I had the M&G he would’ve had to go with our friends, cuz I wouldn’t miss it LOL).[smile][smile]

Bringing a friend on condition that one is an active LPU member.
I had this situation when I won won my friend didnt’t :frowning: She was waiting outside and when I came out of the room with a huge grin she was terribly sad and I felt stupid, like I should give up that M&G for her :frowning:

That’s interesting. I wasn’t an LP fan back in 2009 so I didn’t know before it was only 2 members.
With the 1 guest though I meant they would also have to be a member. (:
