LPU app will be removed soon!

So in emailing Ground(Crtl) support in the last few days to let them know that many members can’t log back into the LPU app, they replied with something other than “support”.

“…But as a far as an app for the LPU GroundCtrl no longer has an app this includes the app for the LPU. The app has not been updated in over a year and at this time there are no plans to update these and they will be removed from the app store soon. All of our websites are mobile friendly at this point in time”

…you’re kidding me. LPU had nailed it on the head when they released an app. It allows members on iOS devices to access the underground that we all pay for. (An android app was expected to be in the making…I expect not now).

“Mobile friendly” doesn’t mean the site is easy or clean to use. Eg: logging in takes twice as long.

Can anyone from LPUHQ comment?

Actually a third party service provider that we work with called Campaign Monitor which is an email marketing company that handles all of our email blasts for our websites was hacked. So nothing to do with our systems were actually hacked and no personal information regarding any of our clients and customers was compromised. They were simply able to get a copy of our email list and really any email list that is hosted by Campaign Monitor. But as a far as an app for the LPU GroundCtrl no longer has an app this includes the app for the LPU. The app has not been updated in over a year and at this time there are no plans to update these and they will be removed from the app store soon. All of our websites are mobile friendly at this point in time.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why they didn’t informed every member. And I’m a bit surprised, cause I thought we’ll even get a complete new LPU app. When you buy the LPU XIII digital membership it still contents “Downloadable LPU App”. Maybe there are technical issues. But the reason LPUHQ stated is just lame. The webside is indeed mobile “friendly”, but iOS users can’t play videos. Maybe it’s a question of cost.

It’s probably cost. Apps are not cheap to maintain.

I rather them fix the site than add superflous apps.

Can anyone from LPUHQ or Groundcrtl make a comment on the deal with the LPU app?

It’s been almost a month since I’ve received an response. The LPU app is a listed feature with signing up with the LPU. A response or some warning would be nice about the status of the app. I would hate to see it go, and would bring question to whether renewing would be worth it since accessing the underground is tricky while traveling/on the go.
