I much prefer to own the physical cd.
Just thought I’d pass this along. Our Best Buy has recently removed all music from the store. Yep. Another convenient CD place. Gone.
I only buy CD’s for my favorities bands. I like to have the CD, and see the cover, see all the arts that ar envolved.
For the others bands, I buy or download on the internet…
Of course CD [cool]
I like CDs (for sure, Linkin Park CDs/DVDs)
But I also download the songs
CD > Download
There’s something about having that physical media that you just can’t get from buying from iTunes.
Of course, there’s also the problem that I don’t use iTunes as my primary music player, anyways, since it doesn’t have a Linux version. Overall I prefer to buy the CD, and rip it to my music library on my PC so that I don’t have to scratch up the CD by using it all the time. (And so that I can play it on multiple operating systems.)
I always buy CDs for my favourite bands eg Linkin Park, Deftones, Korn etc, I only download via iTunes if I don’t care about having a CD. I also like CDs because I can easily play them in the car (my car doesn’t have an aux port so I can’t connect my iPod). Plus you can pick up older/preowned CDs pretty cheap now which is cool [biggrin]
CDs for me definitely.
I don’t use any Apple devices, so there’s no need in iTunes for me.
And if just compare buying digital music vs. physical (CD), I would still prefer physical.
The reason for this is that I like making my own rips from CDs, I like collecting them, I like scanning them and making my own covers for my player.
And when I buy music on CD, I buy something more than just music, with the artwork, etc.
Work has been put into making this CD, as opposed to just giving me the link to download files from server.
For Linkin Park and Linkin Park relate music (DBS, FM, Julien-K, SOB, STP, etc.) I will always buy the physical CD’s in stores and online, usually multiple copies. I also sometimes buy other artists CD’s and stuff, but if I just want a few songs or whatever I will buy tracks on iTunes, or get them other ways.
CD’s!! I don’t think i’ve purchased more than 2 songs on iTunes haha
Just like books, I need to have some type of physical connection with my music!
I would rather have the cds-- I would rather like being able to hold the album in my hands then to have digital copies.
although the iTunes works good when I only want one song and not the whole cd— and lets face it the only cds I have is lp related
I combine Spotify with physical CDs. For me, there’s a difference in consuming music and really cherishing it. On Spotify, I consume. It’s just really handy when I’m on my way to work and I just open the app and listen to whatever I want.
Still, I don’t like that they rip off the artists, so I also support my favorites by buying the CD. Collecting CDs is awesome, but I’m glad, I have Spotify to keep me from buying a CD that just has a catchy tune, which I hate after 2 weeks. So far, that’s been a great combination for me.
Strangely, since I have Spotify, I buy more CDs. Probably cause now I know that they are worth the money.
There’s something about CD’s that’s special, I don’t really know. xD It’s like asking me if I prefer reading a book, like an actual physical book, as opposed to an eBook or something.
Digital music is more convenient but I personally prefer CDs.

I really like having physical CD and DVD at home because it’s like my collection digital copy is not really the same and you don’t have the lyrics i like reading and see the artwork on Cd
Most of my music is purchased a digital downloads from Amazon.
Bandcamp or Amazon.
Apple sucks.
Going through some of the back pages when I found this…thought I might add my two cents. I have an extensive CD library (some 800+ discs at last count), and an iTunes library of some 2200+ songs. Some were rips from before I started buying from the iTunes Store, some are free downloads from all over the place, and the rest are from the Store. I purchase the CDs mostly to have a hard copy, in case something happens to my iTunes library that forces me to restore it from a backup; other than that, I like the packaging on most of the discs I have, and the fact that I can get them autographed. I also have stuff that was, and probably never will be, released in this part of the world, even in the iTunes Store (mostly older imports from Europe and Japan). And my library includes high-resolution products like DVD-Audio and Super Audio CDs, with 5.1-channel sound not easily replicated by simple digital file formats.
I am a collector, and I have little intent on changing my habits even in this age of highly portable audio files. The physical product is what I yearn for most; digital files come second, and only for having the music wherever else I go.
A lot of my music is off the internet.
If I truly like an artist I will probably buy their stuff off iTunes.
If I really love the artist (i.e. Linkin Park), I buy the CDs even if I’ve already bought the digital downloads. However, most of my CDs I have ordered from Amazon.
CD all the time, so much better sound!
Well… Actually, I know that the CD sound is much better quality…)) But unfortunately I have no money order to buy them.
When will the money I hope to buy all studio albums))
