I mostly just buy iTunes because its convenient and much cheaper a lot of the time. There are also those times when you get exclusive bonus content and what not. The only physical CDs I own are LP Underground CDs and those are the only kind of CDs I feel obligated to get physical copies of. Though, there are not physical copies of all of them in the Underground store and I refuse to pay a bunch of money to someone over Ebay or Amazon. I’m just gonna have to get over that and download lpu 2-5… I’m weird like that.
i buy CD for linkin park (except the song is only available on download version)
I sincerely think iTunes sucks. The music they sell has a horrible sampling rate, that is 140 kbps and less. You can’t really appreciate such a bad music quality. It’s only good to listen to here and there, mostly on an iPod (which the output is very low, just for your information… I wonder why they are THAT popular…).
Even pirated music is better than iTunes, because you can actually chose the sampling quality you want, if you have enough experience in researching. And, viruses aren’t much a concern anymore, so if you want FREE music it’s the place to go. If you want music from terrible artists such as Lil’ Wayne, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry…
CDs are easily the best, you can get a maximum sampling rate (up to 1200 kbps like someone wrote earlier), encourage the band, do what you want with the music, and the most important: you can see the whole ‘‘art’’ coming with the album, and listen to the album completely, in order, making it sound a lot more personal / great because if you like music, you always end up loving every song of the album, TRUST ME!
I would never buy anything Digital.
I agree with Antoine, if iTunes offered ISO (or similar) downloads, or even that Apple Lossless format they have, I’d think about buying from it. I do use iTunes to store music (mainly because I have an iPhone), but very rarely do it buy music from there, Blackbirds might be the only one I intended to buy. I do buy music videos, movies, and TV shows, though
Also, is Blackbirds the only officially released LP song not on and physical CD?
Apple? no thanks.
CD or Spotify (that’s the future)
LOL no way something like itunes can be better than actuall CDs
i always buy CDs when im a HUGE fan of a band
i bought all main LP CDs in store
For me and same as others obviously it depends on the band.
If it is one of my top 5-10 bands i will buy the physical CD.
I have the entire back catalogue’s of:
Linkin Park including most on vinyl
Metallica
Avenged Sevenfold including all on vinyl
Stone Sour
Papa Roach
Queen including all vinyls
Three Days Grace.
However if it’s a band I like but not love I will just itunes the album, or just the single if I only like the song.
I get the itunes vouchers when the local music store has them for 2 $20 for $30 so always getting discounted music.
I buy the CD. Cuz my download limit is horrible and I like having the actual CD
I mostly buy CDs in stores or on amazon.
I just buy individual songs on iTunes.
And a few of the albums I buy on vinyl.
im both i buy most songs on Itunes for all different kinds of bands. Whats good about itunes you can jus look it up and play it from there but cds you would have to put it in a cd player or a blue ray.
i have cds record albums singles for LP music
CD’s for me because it’s more personal and you support the band in a better sense. I have been a fan of their’s for so long I actually have their first cassette tape. Yeah, I said cassette tape.
Gotta be CD’s. You get all the beautiful artwork that the guys have slaved over, the emotion and the feeling of holding the physical object in your hands, the booklet with all the lyrics, and in some cases details about how the songs got put together, although this hasn’t been on the more recent ones and I kinda miss that…
CDs. Call me old fashioned :P. But if I’m just testing out a new band then i usually download the song
CD’s and itunes.
I prefer CD’s for collectibles and the itunes for easy downloads.
Yeah, I prefer CD’s too for the collection. I don’t really like itunes, that’s nice for easy download… but this is a download. I don’t know… I prefer when I have the compact discs in my hands haha
still buy CDs - never buy music from itunes - I have to have something physical. (This thread also made me wonder what happened with the Bruce Willis case against itunes…)
Compact discs. It’s so old-schoolish
CD´s
I don’t really like downloads. If I just like one song of a band, I download it. But otherwise I buy the cd. Mostly the bands have a ‘deeper’ background behind the cover and creating it with love. They are telling something about the topic of the record and about the band itself.
Moreover the covers are quite pretty and I like to look at them. If you buy a record you don’t only buy songs but also an artwork. That’s why I like CDs that much
