Bought In The Echo

Hey guys! So I made a mash up of Linkin Park’s LOST IN THE ECHO with the Reanimation B-Side “Buy Myself.” I came up with this idea about a year ago and kept toying around with this mix until everything seemed just about right. I also ended up entering this into the Monthly Mix Up remix competition at LPAssociation.com last month and ended up tying second place. I am very happy with the way this came out and I feel like it stands heads and shoulders above any other mash-up I’ve made. I made this because it was something that I wanted to listen to. Since I enjoy how well this turned out, I really want to have as many LP fans as possible to hear it. If you have 4:30 to kill, give it a listen and let me know what you think!

Downloads of the song are also available for free at my soundcloud link above.

YES! That was well done. For real! What programme did you use?

Thank you! Honestly, this was done entirely in Audacity.

Man, I’ve been wanting to make MashUps for a while! I hope I can put Audacity to use like that too man, haha. And I downloaded it, listen to it every once in a while. Dope! keep it up!

Very nicely constructed, I like how you directly interspersed vocals from Lost in the Echo with those from Buy Myself, and the electronic samples from both songs were also combined with expertise. In all honesty, I was a little taken aback when I heard Mike’s rapping from the first verse of Lost in the Echo slowed down to fit with the beat, but I know that it was obviously necessary, and I got used to it quickly. Well done, Hybrid!

I like it a lot, especially the verses with the tempo-match up and co! samples are also used very well indeed!
The bridge is genius (2:50 onwards) very well done sir!

Minor points of criticism (hope u don’t mind):
The intro feels a little off somehow, but it’s hardly noticable!
End of first chorus the transition to the second verse is not as smooth as it could/should be!

GL for the Competition!

Thank you! Audacity can be tricky and isn’t always user friendly. Like every music creation software, you need to play around with it for a little while to understand it.

Thank you! I think that with the tempo slowed, it changed the mood of the song to be more sinister and dark making it fit nicely with the Manson track.

Thank you and thank you for the feedback as well! The intro was actually the outro to the original Buy Myself. I like how that felt like something failed and I felt that adding in the LITE intro at the end of that felt like it brought it back.

Also, that transition you were talking about was tricky because Buy Myself didn’t leave a lot of gap. The lyrics also somewhat fit together there too which was cool to see “This time I’ve finally let you test my will.” One thing that I liked was how I used the short coming of the chorus to make the song feel like it fails to get to the “Go” part in the chorus. If you notice, the line “This time I’ve finally let you go” is not completed in the chorus until the last chorus of the mix. I like that because it went along with the a fore mentioned failure theme I was going after. When the chorus is “completed” and the full synth of the song is playing, it feels triumphant just before the song ends. I hope my explainations make sense.

Ah I see! well that does make a lot of sense now u have explained it to me .) however I find that matching up vocals to make a “new” sentence is really nice and dope in theory but it hardly ever works due to the atmosphere of tracks :frowning: I have tried this one a few of my mixing projects, with little success

Anyway keep it up and ty for explaining

What an awesome mashup!
Congrats mate!

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, I absolutely love this! What a perfect mash up! Sorry, I don’t have anything constructive to say since I know nothing about mixing things but wow, this is just perfect.

Wow that was dope man, I actually downloaded this. I usually don’t download remixes lol.
