The problem is: Not everyone has heard all the songs. It will be biased. I think you should rather try BOTS: Other Bands! A contest where we all vote for maybe 8 bands (other than LP and related acts) and then let the songs from them compete. It would be rather interesting.

maybe do Battle of the Bands…
Bots bands could work where every voter pitches a band to be in the polls.

I would have said every voter pitches 5-10 bands. Then a certain number of bands with maximum votes would have actually gone into the BOTS.
Current situation: 10 users will give 10 band names. Few of the most iconic bands will be missed as they mayn’t be someone’s favorite band.
Say 5-each scenario: 10 users end up giving 50 names. Say 30 names are different, 20 common. It would show that bands like ADTR, BMTH, IM, RA etc maynt be top favs, but are recurring in almost everyone’s list. Hence, their BOTS will be more attractive in the forums.
