So the other day me and some friends were talking about subway card points and how many points get you a free foot-long (it’s 1000), but then it dawned on me; the foot-long isn’t free at all, not even slightly.
As far as I know you get 10 times the amount you pay in points when you buy something. So if you spend £6.20 you get 62 points.
Well the sub I get is usually about £6.20. If a free foot-long is 1000 points then I need to buy 16.129 foot-longs to get the points (because 1000/62 = 16.129…). Well if I need to buy 16.129 foot-longs I’m actually paying £100 for that supposedly “free” foot-long (because 16.129 x 6.20 = 100).
The cheaper the initial sub you buy, the more expensive your “free” one becomes.
