Photoshoot for the album is today!

If they decide to make a story album like ATS, this would be better since they are now mixing more real instruments and less electronic, I keep waiting for those powerful bass synth mixed with classic drunming they are using lately tbh.

@evooba Too much style!
It seems they won’t wear only dark clothes, proof that this is really a different change.

As seen in their IG story, they’re still picking out clothes. We can never know… I won’t judge how an album is gonna be/sound like by the colour of the band’s clothes in a photoshoot.

when do you guys think will they releas the first song of the new album?

Before the month ends

Sometimes the outfit is meant to go with the album. Take a band like My Chemical Romance, they changed for each album intentionally. The Black Parade they wore the parade jackets, Gerard bleached hiss hair to represent the patient, and they took on a more serious aesthetic with that album. The Maine took a similar approach to their aesthetic for American Candy when they started wearing suits more often, basically dressing very classy to represent the very classy aesthetic the record had. But who knows if that’s the kind of thing Linkin Park will embrace.

Probably he’s just testing. I think they want to look more mixed and casual like here

Dunno about other bands, I’m just saying, I can’t tell what something will be like based on colours or whatever.

@evooba yeah, I understand. Just got me thinking about how other bands have used their clothes to represent a sound.
For everyone else, the more colorful, casual vibe might mean a more diverse sound. Or something less dark or angry. Maybe a shift towards uplifting music, positive vibes. Maybe even some fun music, not just great music to rock out to. Could mean anything if they’re going for an aesthetic thing and aren’t just trying something new for a photoshoot. Anyone else have any ideas about what this could mean for the sound if by some small chance it means something?

They had the angry and rebel concept with THP maybe they come back with an experienced and positive attitude on this new album. Not necessary a soft sound, but lyrically speaking.

Since Mike keeps saying the songs are really personal to them, I hope for deep and emotional lyrics like for example Minutes to Midnight had.

I don’t expect a soft album necessarily, but something maybe uplifting or fun even. Something that carries a positive message instead of an angry, emotional, sad, or bleak feeling. Something that they’ve never done. Their best album.

Exactly, I wish I was more skillful with english

From the musical side I see it like this:

Hybrit Theory: using Nu Metal as debut

Meteora: They started giving hints of their wish to move on

Minutes To Midnight: First and most important step to evolve

A Thousand Suns: They tried the true electronic route

Living Things: A mix of all that ^

— New beginning as their own producers—

The Hunting Party: Inspired by influences of their youth

I think Meteora wasn’t just a hint at their desire to evolve. For me, it felt like a full evolution. It had a much darker feel to it. It was less anger and more pain. The guitar riffs are immersive, encapsulating, and totally filled with the organic swell that was found on A Thousand Suns. To me, Meteora is a less electronic A Thousand Suns without the themes. Minutes to Midnight you got spot on though. Although I saw Living Things as more of an attempt to win back the fans they lost the two previous albums. But I have a feeling this new album is going to be their greatest sonic departure yet. It’s going to be a whole new sound. The lyrics are going to be better written probably, since they started with lyrics. We’ll probably get thenough most personal record, as we’ve all said in this thread several times. But I got thinking, what if there’s a greater focus on acoustics and keyboards? Or even better, orchestral instruments. Great string sections, maybe even some amazing harmonies between Chester and Mike driving the songs. Not gang vocals like on Iridescent, but more like Rebellion or Mark The Graves harmonies where Chester and Mike connect. Maybe even a song where they take parts, like a full on duet. Maybe they could sing a conversation with each other about a very personal struggle. Just a thought.

That’s a formula they’ve never tried before, it’s very possible now that they’ve got new help and feedback with the lyrics part. I’d love to see that!
I just hope they make it it flow rightly with a respectable amount of songs.

What if even they even changed their classic interludes system for just one intro and outro for the whole album?

The guys are posting a lot of stuff on IG and Snapchat today from the photoshoot, just in case anyone wants to keep up with them.
