iHeartRadio Response

Gotta love Green Day

It hurt during BURN IT DOWN when Chester went to the side of the stage and just SHOOK hands with the crowd. I mean, no one even reached out

I just saw the bit at the end of What I’ve Done, both of them trying to get the crowd to sing along and failing, That was painful.

With the Green Day situation, if I’d found out my set was being cut and only had 1 minute left, I’d have played another song just to stick it to them!

I totally agree with you! It was a shame, they made an amazing show but that crowd showed a lot of disrespect for the band. That’s why I prefer to see shows that have REAL fans in the crowd. They are coming to Brazil in October, and we are very very excited to see them. They will be impressed with us because we Love them. Not only us, Brazillians, but everyone around the world who do love LP and recognize their talent and passion with music. Shame on this Las Vegas crowd. They suck.

Oooh! I see a fantastic question for Mike tomorrow!
Someone should ask - because I can’t make the chat - what he thought of the iHeart Radio show…
He will probably be polite but he actually might comment on the lack of energy.

Maybe he might comment on Billie Joe even…?

I’d rather Mike was honest with his thoughts. If I was playing a gig and I thought the crowd sucked, I wouldn’t keep it to myself. Like what Dave Grohl had to say about Foo Fighters’ Hyde Park show in 2006: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTCqp8SGh2I

I was lucky enough to get home in time to see LP’s set early Sunday Morning. The guys were putting on a great show and Chester was putting 110% EFFORT into the lyrics, but alas, the Vegas crowd could care less. There were a few fans swaying their arms back in the forth, but to say the crowd was disappointing is a severe understatement.

On a lighter note…How hilarious would it have been if Hahn was wearing that “ever-changing” Deadmau5head, while out on stage for 30 min???

Ah! Someone who was there! You’ll be able to tell us: Was the crowd semi-universally into any of the bands that played?

Because I have to believe the band knew precisely the response they’d get. The festival had an impossible mix of individual artists and bands in the lineup. I suspect every artist got an enormously less-energetic response than they would have gotten in front of their own crowd. And I suspect the fact that the festival would put them in front of something other than a “home team” crowd was actually part of the attraction: The event was streamed nationally in the U.S., and highlights will be televised nationally next Monday. People who have never even heard of Linkin Park will tune in, and some will decide they want to know more. In the past, bands relied on MTV and radio to reach new audiences; with those things dead or dying, the opportunity to get in front of new audiences becomes increasingly attractive, even if it means playing your guts out to a sea of apathy.

The cynical part of me also suspects there was a Warner Brothers commitment and/or a big paycheck involved. But the fact that they played so hard and that Mike looked like he was having so much fun makes me think the exposure element was the biggest attraction for them to play the gig.

That completely sucks, had i gone to the iheartradio show, LP would have been the reason why!!!

I was actually there, at the show, right next to the stage. My husband and I were the only ones that knew the songs basically:( it totally sucked kinda. It felt dissapointing for the band as well, but I think they knew what they were walking into. That wasn’t the LP show! Most of the people there, I think, came to see Taylor Swift and Aerosmith… It was a very different crowd from what you expect at the LP concert. Very different. Bu at least I saw them again, and they were the best! The loudest too. When they started playing… Wow, can’t even describe it. After them, even the people behind us, that didn’t even know who LP was, said they they rocked the house! It was an awesome feeling!

We can hear the poor crowd on this video… -_- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFleYIZbR1c

True one! The crowd wont even get along with their music. -_-"

dude, youre right on. those people need to listen to good music, not just carly rae jepsen or any other of those squares. i hope the band sees this blog

I guess that’s to expect from pop-loving crowds… They don’t know good music when thrown at them right in their faces.

Linkin Park made some mistakes too on stage. For example did Mike sing the 1st chorus twice on In The End. And the sound on Mikes rap on Burn It Down was not loud enough. And then Chester get out of it on What I’ve Done in the 3rd verse, after the guitar solo. And Joe missed a key in the end of Numb. So many mistakes, that they’ve never used to make.

And the crowd. I think Linkin Park though that they were singing in front of a thousand Linkin Park fans, that they use to do. But they weren’t. It was a whole mix of fans from many other bands too.

I don’t know what they think about at the concert. But it wasn’t that good. I’m sorry guys. I’m a huge Linkin Park fan myself. But that wasn’t good.

I was there at the show about 3 rows back from the walkway stage. When they first came on ppl were getting into it cause of in the end. But as they kept going ppl started sitting down and I remember during the leave out all the rest mix up, there was girls just talking and talking behind us. It was pretty annoying. I was hoping the flames would light some of the crowd on fire to make them jump around haha but I had the best time. Drunk and LP in front of you is what life is about hah the crowd don’t matter, it’s how you feel about the music. Fuck everyone else ha

I agree too! I was singing at the top of my lungs, but was disapponted with the crowds lack of enthusiasm.

Hi everyone,

I was actually at the show, on the night Linkin Park performed, and I gotta tell you, the crowd did suck as you all saw, but here’s why. Keep in mind this was not a Linkin Park concert. Yes, I was shocked too, because I’ve never seen Linkin Park play a set with mixed performers like that. Half of the audience, in my surroundings, where I was seated (floor, section A, row 9) came to see Taylor Swift and Pitbull. It was insane during their performance. And then Linkin followed Taylor Swift. Big props to Pooch, because he upped the sound to about 30% louder than Taylor Swift, the crowd I noticed were in awe at first, and everyone got up, even though nobody knew any Linkin songs except my husband and I, but they liked it. After a second song, it seemed like they got bored, which was really pissing us off, but oh well, we didn’t care. It was really disappointing to see that nobody wanted to sing with Mike when he was trying to engage the crowd, again my husband and I were the only ones, and then everyone was turning around and looking at us like we were crazy. I think Linkin Park realized hat this wasn’t their crowd and they were ok with it. Their hearts weren’t broken. They knew what they were walking into. All in all, LP’s performance was the best of that night! When Aerosmith came on, they were pale in comparison, you couldn’t even hardly hear them, after hearing LP being so loud. A couple that sat behind us (who came to see Brad Paisley) said:“we never even heard of Linkin Park, but man they rocked the house!” It was nice to hear that.
That was my third time seeing them this year, and I was grateful for the opportunity, no matter what the crowd was like. We didn’t care. We enjoyed it to the fullest!

As for the Billy Joe, I totally agree with Kristyne.

It’s a totally different story when you’re actually there. The performance was so good and like she said, they did boost the sound for them, everything was so much louder, it was great. You don’t care about mistakes or anything. Plus being drunk you don’t notice stuff like that anyway cause you’re busy going crazy lol but trust, it was dope.

I still can’t believe I got to sit 3 rows back from the stage for FREE! Ppl would pay thousands to be where I was at hah I guess it was a early bday gift since my bday was on the 25th, only 3 days after the show
