I think it’s his natural talent. Practice can make you good, but Chester is kind of exceptional.
Yes, but I think screaming without distroying your voice is not easy. You need to learn a special technique. Or have you never been hoarse after screaming during a concert?
haha. I get your point. I definitely expect him to train, but I still think he is more of gifted in that part. I used to have cracked voice after screaming initially, but after practicing songs like OSC, From the Inside, Given Up, War, Keys to the Kingdom (to name a few), I dont have any problems now. I can scream to the max now, and get back my original voice in the next line.
That’s why i said
Really? I hope your neighbours like it.
I think some of you are also forgetting what the guy has to pull off almost every single night on a tour. I mean it’s pure athleticism! The guy’s almost 40 years old, and not only does he sing and scream a lot of songs with an immense amount of technical difficulty (I know this since I learned the singing and screaming techniques he uses) he also performs some real acrobatic movement as well. I don’t know any other 40 year olds that can pull such a thing off. And it’s not that it all comes naturally and effortlessly, just look at how tense his neck and head muscles are during most songs. And then I’m not even talking about the crazy amount of pressure he must put on his abbs. So yeah he most definitely has to work out constantly to be able to perform like that. Besides all the physical aspects he has to overcome, there are also the ones that have to do with acoustics. Meaning, if you don’t hear yourself very well, while singing a concert, it’s almost impossible to sing in tune.
This video was surprising for two reasons. One, his voice made me cringe. And two, I had actually seen him the night before. The night before he sounded amazing and I don’t know what it could have been.
@NancyWe23 Don’t worry, I have learned my lesson in this part. Few years ago, my friends and I had a bet about who could scream the loudest. Police was called in because some of our new neighbors thought that it was domestic violence. So I don’t do it anymore in my room. I disturb my friend’s neighbors
LOL
London on the 24th and he was amazing, deffo held his notes!
I believe he was sick that day? But his voice has definitely changed. Still amazing though. Not complaining.
Chester was it not the vocal cords so these noises are not absolutely true
I support)
Concert cool! The only pity is that the recording is not normal.
agreed in all points!
The human voice as an instrument can be very beautiful. But when one has long days without enough rest, this can definitely make singing less “enjoyable” both for the singer and the audience. Regardless how good the singer is.
Unlike a guitar, which you can just replace the strings of of other parts to make it sound good, a singer can only resort to good rest, good warm-ups and maybe some herbal tea.
It may surprise you to learn that when I met him at the meet and greet, in Camden NJ in 2014, he told me himself he never had any formal voice training.
