Oof has 2 main uses, both of which are used when something goes wrong.

It can be used to describe the event:
“Dang chief, I oofed big time”

Or it can be used as an exclamation during the event of something going wrong:
“Oof! I broke my toe!”

It also has 3 tiers:
oof - low
big oof - high
O O F - extreme
