It’s quite impossible as it is very popular and usual.
But I remember one mistake which I found unbelivable (for the reason as above).
Do you celebrate Halloween?

Do you celebrate Halloween?
No. Kids are to old for that now.
But I had real fun, when they were younger.
@anomalia do you go on trick or treat tour with your kid?
This tradition is still not so popular here. I’ve heard of some pumpkin parties for kids this year. Some kids probably will knock each door and ask for sweets. I can’t imagine us among them.
This time of the year there is a very serious atmosphere in Poland.
What will you ask Santa for this year?
Probably a 3D printer.
You?
Ignorant me must ask how come?
Santa don’t come
Favorite holiday of the year?
There’s no long tradition to make fun of death. And the weathers deepens the melancholic atmosphere (days become shorter and colder, leaves fall down, often you get up in the morning to see nothing outside but fog/smog…)
On the radio you won’t find any loud and energetic music - only melancholy pieces. Generally what you can find on TV, radio, newspapers and internet is dominated by recollection of famous people who died, pictures of flowers and candles burning on graves. And information of how many people got injured in accidents driving like crazy all around Poland to visit the graves of all of their relatives and ancestors.
The younger generation seem to be bored of the above and they start to follow the American tradition of Halloween (as shown in the movies or cartoons).
The older generation is still shocked how you can may fun of the stuff that in their opinion should treated with seriousness. The religion also has a lot to do with this approach.
May I ask which religion?
I understand there’s a mix compared to other places
I didn’t imagine this, thank you for sharing
It makes sense…maybe close to Mexico’s view of day of the dead then? Tho uh h even Mexico celebrates ancestry positively for the most part colorful etc…
The religion is probably the same as in Mexico (Roman-Catholic). But the apptoach is completely different.
I’ve got some idea of the Mexican tradition. And you only can confirm (or negate) if it is true or false what I could see in ‘Coco’ (the movie). Anticipating your answer - I’m not asking if there is a tradition in Mexico for skeletons to visit their relatives on earth or for alive Mexicans to visit the land of the dead.
I haven’t been in Poland for longer than two weeks for years so I don’t really know if it’s really true. I mean 1st of November is like melancholic but that’s about it
But above I’m just talking about November 1st/2nd - not about Poland in general.
For those days the above is true. And I’ve lived here since I was born.
Maybe I was raised differently or maybe because I haven’t been there in November for years I don’t get it really but I never thought of it as very serious or melancholic time in Poland
Summer because it’s the longest. lol
